that's a great read, lots of things I didn't think about, but now seeing the gifs and the writer remembering a lot of stuff, it does make a lot of sense...

Felicity is relatively safe, due to the fact that she is both the most popular character (possibly tied with Oliver) and that her death would serve no purpose. Slade was safe, because Deathstroke is a staple of almost every non-powered DC hero's Rogue gallery. Moira was always doomed because Ollie is an orphan, Sara was doomed because Dinah has no family and Laurel needed a reason to change. Shado was doomed because Slade had no reason to hate Oliver.

Typical Tumblr fangirl. "The show can do no wrong, it must be the way I perceive it that is wrong."
I felt nothing at Sara's death. No anger, no sadness. I really liked that character, and I have gotten proper depressed at character deaths in other shows before. But this didn't feel earned. It just felt like a plot device to continue to force a character nobody likes down our throats. The writers messed up and their attitudes don't seem to be changing anytime soon.
They already had a Black Canary that was well established, interesting, likable and played by a good actress but they sacrificed that to create something they already had with a character that, so far, is consistently unlikable, poorly written and spottily acted. So their chances of success at regaining what they already had are not high.

I've been kickboxing for about six weeks now," Cassidy says.
She sticks out her hand and shows a good-sized scrape on one knuckle.
"This is actually my first boxing injury," she says. "It's healed a lot. It's kind of exciting. I'm eventually going to be kickboxing in heels."

Thank you for finding that post. It's a perfect summation of why I've been - and continue to be - a Laurel fan, although I do disagree with the writer on a couple of points, particularly as it concerns Oliver/Laurel. I firmly believe - based on things that the producers have said - that Oliver and Laurel will end up together in the end, but that everything that's happened - and that will end up happening - is part of the journey of getting to that point, and it's going to be incredibly satisfying once it happens because we will have seen the two characters 'earn' their life together and become the people they need to be in order to have a life together.
