Not sure.
I am curious because if they were there beforehand, I wonder if that made the building a target.
Not sure.
I am listening to the MSNBC stream and I just heard someone in the background say, "I can't believe coronavirus blew a 23 to 8 lead to racism."
Quite horrendous what happened, those officers should be spending a long time in jail. But it's important to consider the whole picture and look at the facts to see the truth. Most of those killed by police are white:

But a disproportionate number are black: Deaths Due to Use of Lethal Force by Law Enforcement

Unfortunately a disproportionate number of black people commit crimes so that complicates things:

There's some ignorance and misconceptions about police brutality. There are plenty of white victims that are also treated with the same disregard as black victims:
Daniel Shaver: Police officer not guilty of murder
Police Kill Too Many People—White and Black
Orlando pays $24,000 in fatal police stun gun incident
We can't deny there's a racial element to some of these incidents, perhaps quite a few of them and of course there's a rather sordid history with police violence against black Americans. But it also goes deeper and beyond race. It's about lack of training, incompetence, poor temprement, racism and a country awash with guns that gears police to be fearful and confrontational. The good thing is there seems to be unaminous condemnation from liberals and conservatives, even Fox News etc have been very disparaging. Let's hope this gets a conversation going and change attitudes so this becomes a thing of the past.

Why the police killing of this unarmed white man has not led to national outcry
Police responded to his 911 call for help. He died. What happened to Tony Timpa?
Texas police withheld records of their son’s death. Now they know why.

It looks almost entirely composed of women too. *epic fist-bump*
No... No there is not now nor has there for 60 years the same reaction to these things between the Reactionary Conservatives and literally everybody else. And currently, the reactions are the same as they have always been. The president literally said he was cool with mass killing those out in the streets. Check his Twitter. See who is approving.
This didn't happen overnight. This has been a long time coming and I'm sorry, but in the online world, if you've been going to the mat for those who have killed unarmed black civilians for the last ten years, despite the evidence so many of those killings had no real justifications, then you added to this problem by refusing to see what was happening in front of your own eyes.
A reminder... The current president decided it was in his interests to take out a full page ad in response to the Central Park "Wilding" case of the 1980's. He made the choice to start his foray into politics by promoting a totally fabricated racist lie aimed at the first African-American president in history. Is there a better example of the level of systemic racism in the nation than that fact?
Not when you followed the person home while presupposing crime for no reason (outside of the color of the person's skin) with a gun, after being told not to. But you sure like leaving that part out for some reason.Someone on top of you, beating your head against concrete is certainly a real justification for defending your life with deadly force. But please, ignore all the evidence that has been repeatedly presented to you and pretend someone was killed over a bag of candy.
George Zimmerman was the instigator, but please go on pretending he's the victim.Someone on top of you, beating your head against concrete is certainly a real justification for defending your life with deadly force. Also it is amazing that after this past week, this is where you decided to take this thread.
1. Why did he follow the black kid then?He was never told not, you know this. He was told "we don't need you to do that" in vague way for legal reasons by a dispatcher. You also have no evidence to suggest Zimmerman followed Martin based on race other than Martin is black and Zimmerman is not black. He didn't mention race until the dispatcher specifically asked what race Martin was. You know this too.
Someone falsely suspecting you of a crime is not justification for taking them to the ground and beating their head in. Especially since they never tried to detain you, another popular lie.
He continues to act as if a kid was killed over candy while ignoring the reality. There are real incidents to express outrage over, that isn't one of them.
That account was suspended unfortunately.I don't think I've seen this in here yet -
Would be even better if there were more white men defending the line too and I see a few there but not enough. That there needs to be a literal white line there at all should not be necessary but at least there are some people willing to step up and take the risk for others to protest (somewhat) free of danger. It looks almost entirely composed of women too. *epic fist-bump*
Ah, thanks for the heads up, for context it was a post showing photos of protests outside the American embassy in Milan. That account was suspended unfortunately.
Trump will never talk about this, but imagine if the reporters just kept asking him about it...
1. Why did he follow the black kid then? There had been multiple break ins in that neighborhood, he suspected Martin of being involved. You'll notice the dispatcher immediately asked him for a description of Martin and address showing he takes the call seriously.
2. We know he is racist. He has made that clear since. You're judging his actions on that night based on his actions in the years after the shooting. He was immediately painted as racist as well.
3. He wasn't simply suspecting him. He was hunting him. With a gun, at night. He doesn't leave his truck until after the dispatch ask him which direction Martin was running. He slows his pace after the dispatcher tells him "We don't need you to do that". He walks to the end of the sidewalk, comes back and stands in one area. Then Martin shows up again.
4. The kid was murdered for doing nothing wrong. To argue otherwise says a lot about the person who said it. Emphasis on the candy is to show that a the kid was doing nothing but being a kid walking home, and was hunted down and killed for it.
An act of assault isn't doing nothing wrong. To ignore otherwise says a lot about the person who said it. Zimmerman says to the dispatcher at the end of the call he doesn't know where Martin is. He can't see him. So this idea that's been expressed again and again here he's stalked and hunted Martin, keeping him from going home isn't based on truth. Nothing Zimmerman did was illegal, there was no legal justification for Martin's assault.
5. It is good to know that as we watch America burn do to the racist acts of racists with firearms in America, that this is the discussion we are having in this thread. Again.
