Discussion concerning the closure of the Soul Glo thread

Wait a minute. A multi-cultural thread? Aren't all of our threads multi-cultural seeing as we are a multi-cultural community?

Regardless of your race, your creation of your thread seemed self serving and attention seeking.

Actually:

My thread proved how hypocritical, trite and petty, a lot of people here were.

On my part it was completely passive - You only got out of it what you put into it, I made no attempt to run it and every attempt to let it be exactly what it should've been.

Only to hi-light the flaws in a lot of people.

those folk chose to ignore the concept and go after the originator attacking me for every facet they could've changed themselves AND putting every telling attribute that they would JUSTIFY as the reasons why "they" would start such a thread.

Nah,... I hardly went looking for attention, I only responded to questions w/o an agenda and posts directed at me.

You are in error to believe that thread served me more than to show me who here is really limited.

I'll remember the ones who got their tail twisted on this and acted like children that didn't get what they wanted.
:whatever:

Peace.

You ought to start being honest with yourself.
You yourself said that it was imperative that a Caucasian thread should be made "ASAP" because you were scared they'd close down the Soul Glo lounge.

It did not need to be made "ASAP".
Someone who had the right motivations and inspiration should've been the one to make it.
Your rushed, uninspired and mildly insulting thread radiated "suck", which alienated me, for one.
Another poster said "I can't post in a White person's thread that was made by a sexist, racist Black man."

No one wanted Soul Glo shut down. They wanted equal rights to be able to make their own thread devoted to other races/cultures.

Soul Glo still exists, and people are free to make a thread for other races/cultures, so there's no problem anymore.

People are just going on and on about stuff because they don't understand what really happened,...like the guy who thought it was so unfair that "they" took away Soul Glo, when, in fact, LIGHTNING STRIKES took it away and said that it was a victory, not a failure.....or raybia, who thought people were "working to get Soul Glo closed", which is untrue as far as I know and as far as a mod has said.

Just because people didn't like your thread, and hated the title you chose for it, does not mean they are "limited".
LOL, how arrogant of you. :o

Please.

My thread could've been ended by post TEN after I said that ANYONE who didn't like it could take it over OR START THEIR OWN.

Instead we got PAGES of folk whining about it.

LOL

It shows a SERIOUS lack to require change via tantrum and put forth reasons that when the reasoning is met or resolved the same people continue the tantrum.

The lack is hypocritical in nature because the results requested were not the true goal.

Well They got what they wanted because the Mod who shielded the thread has grown tired of the blatant hostility inherent in defending a thread that lazy thinkers have determined to be "wrong" because it doesn't leave them with the "warm and fuzzies"

Tsk.

It was perpetuated because instead of admitting the truth or saying "Whatever", you kept "defending" yourself and the thread with untrue statements that in turn, drew more criticism.

Yes, you're describing this thread, and all the people bemoaning the fact that Soul Glo was "taken away" when.....there is currently a Soul Glo Lounge and the original was not taken away, but ended, by it's creator. :o

Who thought the thread was "wrong" ?

I've seen Dew say a few times that she doesn't understand why groups cry out for inclusion and then segregate themselves, but who thought the thread was "wrong"? I'd be interested to know.

I thought it was great, except for the racism.

I like how Varient denies every accusation but throws out ones of his own.

I too, never thought it was "wrong", I just wanted equal rights that and listen closely, quite a few mods including the one who made the Soul Glo agreed with.

Meh: Admitting the truth = Saying that I'm just as petty as the ones promoting the closure of the slo glo thread Because I couldn't (Heavy Sarcasm) open a thread for the right reasons.

To me this is like the KKK saying that the Jews should just say that their religion is all about Ruling the world to Justify the abuse that the KKK puts on them.

Same concept with "defending",... I'm as bad as the person taking a swing at me because I block?

Sorry - I'm not going there.

????
WHAT IS THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD? and HOW can you compare the off topic whining on Heinz57 with the on topic convo here?

Who thought the thread was "wrong" ?

Somehow with all the typing of certain individuals who said things about the Op, and about the Thread surviving and about the caterwauling that caused me to talk to mods then start heinz57 - you need to face the fact that in the MANY ways they said it more than a few "thought it was wrong.

Happy ThanksGiving,.. I'm on my way to get fed,.. My Mother and two Aunts Are making family favs at my Uncles house.

Peace.

They always suddenly have "somewhere to be" when they start to realize how in-the-wrong they are. :(

It's easier to just admit that you're a flawed human being!
It's okay, we'll still accept you. :(

Sigh.
Skipping My shower to dance with Wilhelm-Scream on a KNOWN HOLIDAY so he can't say I'm running because "I'm wrong".

So Bring it WS,.. Answer my LAST,.. I'M RIGHT HERE.

Varient said:
Yes,...
I'd like to enjoy the Holiday,... but of course that's not a good enough excuse to "pause" a discussion.

(trip)

:whatever:

I was so obviously not being serious.
It's.......*BrOiNg*.......THANKSGIVING DAY.

Practically everyone has somewhere to be.

Plus I wouldn't really accept you with all your flaws.:ninja:

One thing I've learned through all of this is that Varient would be happier if he'd lighten up.
Like, way, way up.

All I ever said remains true.
Soul Glo was intended for talk about Black people and Black culture.
If Black people can have a thread, White people, Asians and Hispanics should be able to have one.
If other races/cultures can have one too, cool, wrong righted.
It amazes me that anyone could not see the truth in that statement...unless they're a racist. *shrug*
-fin-

THEN, totally unrelated to the double standard/unfairness debacle....
....Heinz 57 is a terrible name for a thread that's not about condiments.
-fin- -fin-

I was bummed out when I found out the Soul-GLO thread was closed. :csad: :down

With that said, it'd be cool if there were Asian, Middle Eastern/Arab, and Latino threads to compensate.

We're all adults here. Surely we can't be that PC that we need one single multi-cultural thread to discuss things that are non-white.

nope.

Sorry,.. that's too much for some.

if you read the entire thread from the point where they start complaining about the existance of the slo glo thread,

Then read the entirety of the heinz 57 thread,

you'll see the hypocracy and the serious denial at play here by those who want it their way and then try to minimize the amount of dirt they threw up to get it.

I am at my mother's and my sister is braiding my hair while I am sitting at the computer

I am in the preview for "I Am Legend" except no lions or deer, etc.
And the vampires are replaced with homeless schizophrenics.

Well, if you had actually been involved in the discussion instead of just jumping in right now, you'd know that having multiple threads devoted to separate cultures doesn't seem to be working out for some people, and it's causing a lot of drama. So yes, judging from people's reactions, it seems we DO need to have just a "multicultural thread." This forum is much more than just adults, it contains a lot of kids as well. I don't know if that's particularly why this drama is occurring though.

Also multi-cultural = including things that are white as well.

Edit- I guess that sounded rather rude, but I'm honestly not trying to be. It's just that I feel like I've been watching people go in circles about this for ages now :csad:

I will discuss this more in other post but your statement makes it sound like I'm a conspiracy theorist.

No I do not believe there was a conspiracy to have the "Soul Glo" thread.

I do believe there was one or more posters who tried to sabotage the thread to get it closed however none of these posters are a mod or a part of SHH administration.

I do not not believe Wilhelm was one of these posters.

While it is true that LS was the one who closed it, I believe that he did so begrudgingly due to the fact he could no longer putt forth the commitment to monitor and defend the Soul Glo thread.

Rather than let someone else pull the plug, which was inevitable, he did it himself and I know that it hurt him very much to do so and I admire him for it.

Undoubtedly the Soul Glo thread will be monitored but without a mod to advocate the existence of such a thread as the Soul Glo it too will to a swift end.

Raybia

You had better not be talking about me.
I liked the thread. That's why I wanted to make a similar thread for White people and why I also like the Asian thread.

I don't see why you would defensive over my comment if you know that it doesn't apply to you. Believe it or not, you are one the few posters on the Hype that I greatly respect, though I don't always agree, mainly because you are so upfront with your thoughts and almost always explain your reasoning with the positions that you take.

So if I was talking about you I would not only tell you, I would confront you with it but that is definitely NOT your style and that is another reason why I respect you.

MY problem was, the same thing you said:

If that's true of the Black thread, then it should be true of the White or Asian threads, but according to Dew, the White and Asian threads were closed because of questionable posts inside the threads.

Do you know what that's called?
That's an "unfair double standard".

If Erzengel was a mod, and he started an Asian thread, so you started a Black person's thread, and then they closed both threads, BUT Erzengel was allowed to open only his back up, you know DAMN well you'd think it was wrong and gross.
DAMN well.

Also, it was PROVED that the Soul Glo Lounge was a haven for anti-White racism...because Dew said, yes, she was not policing it, because she thought LS would.
When she finally looked at the thread she said she was appalled at some of the stuff she saw and that it would not be allowed to continue.

I agree with everything you said here but that "unfair double standard" that you speak of is not the fault of those posters who liked and supported the Soul Glo thread, it was the result of poor judgment and communication of the Hype administration team .

A conspiracy is when 2 or more people secretly work together toward achieving some agreed upon, usually criminal or questionable goal.

Who are the people that "worked" to have Soul Glo shut down?
I find it hard to believe that people would care so much to "work" towards shutting it down, so I'd be interested to know who they are.

What a mess, The original one spawned some spin offs, they were all merged into one of the old "Hi, Bye" lounges b/c it seemed a lot of them were taking the piss. LS' thread was so big that Morg didn't know what to do so Dew closed it as she said.

Ideally at the time the stupid ones should have been trashed and the 2 legitimate ones left but that didn't happen.

Things have since been rectified but the initial incident of LS re-opening his has still left some upset for it to remain an issue even after the go ahead was given for other culture threads.

No one worked to get it closed, I don't know where you get that idea from.

I am not saying it camp from anyone in SHH administration if that is your suspicion but I do believe there was at least two posters who tried to sabotage the thread to get it closed.

I agree with everything you said here but that "unfair double standard" that you speak of is not the fault of those posters who liked and supported the Soul Glo thread, it was the result of poor judgment and communication of the Hype administration team .
I know. I said that the unfair double standard came in with the closing of threads, the deletion (or merging, I don't know) of threads and the re-opening of threads.

Posters can't close, delete or merge threads so obviously I was talking about mods unfairly closing threads, and using their power to re-open certain threads while the people who made other threads don't have the power to re-open their own.
