Loved Blanchett's performance, but just disagree. Most of the second act (the best part of the movie) is Thor, Hulk, and Valkyrie having great adventures. In that sense, I thought Goldblum's character was a better adversary, silly as he was, because they struggled mightily to escape him.
During that time, Blanchett just kept having generic exposition with Dredd in the throne room and twiddled her thumbs. I know she killed everyone off, but it felt less "shocking" to me than MCU doing spring cleaning. Odin was already shown to be a bit of a hypocrite and liar in the past two films with how he treated Loki, and that continued with how he apparently treated Hela. 'Kay. Odin was written off in a first act that was all about cleaning house: they got rid of that silly TDW cliffhanger in a comical fashion; wrote out Jane with a single line of dialogue; and gave Odin a pretty hollow death (IMO). Then while Thor and Loki are in the good movie, poor Blanchett finishes the job by dispensing with the Warriors Three and most of Asgard in some very tonally awkward scenes.
I liked the movie, but whenever it was not on Goldblum's planet, it was a step down from the rest. When it was there, the movie is fantastic.
