It made over a billion dollars, I think that miracle alone is enough. :D

but $400M is a nice round number for the domestic market!! :woot:

It'll reach 400 million but it's going to be a slow crawl to that amount.

It will make 400 mil without question. The only question is how much higher it will go once it reached that milestone.

Got my ticket for Aladdin on Broadway today. Seeing it in May. Can't wait! :woot:

I ran into a friend who works there today (who helped me get amazing Aladdin seats), and joking asked when Frozen was coming to Broadway. No set date for it yet...but it's definitely in the works.

since Elsa's such a recluse.......does that make her the Batman of the Disney Princesses?? lol

He's the night, she's the wind and sky. And they both do love their capes. So I suppose so. :oldrazz:

Or the Superman. Told to hide her powers by parents, runs away because the world isn't ready for her powers, goes to a snowy mountain and gets a cape, then comes back and everything's fine even though she nearly destroyed a city.

Superman should've sang Let It Go when he put the suit on for the first time. :oldrazz:

Broadway Frozen is several years away. It hasn't even been written yet. 2018-2020 probably.

Most likely we'll see Hunchback on Broadway (finally) before we see Frozen. That's having its US premiere at Papermill this year.

It really looks like Frozen is exploding in Japan. After opening with very close to the same numbers as Monster University, it's been blowing MU out of the water ever since.
After its opening weekend MU did $5 from Mon-Fri, Frozen has done 11-11.5m!

Sunday was Frozen's biggest day in Japan so far and Friday's estimates are even bigger, pointing to this weekend increasing from last.

TOHO admissions for Today: 68297

Last Saturday: 59121
Last Sunday: 64414

Japan is looking at over $30m by Sunday, amazing.

Elsa combines both of my favorite heroes (Batman and Superman)!! :woot:

oh, and if Superman sang Let It Go in MOS...........it would have made $500M guaranteed!! :o

Still, with the very similar opening weekends to see Frozen annihilate MU's numbers is impressive, even more so since MU was released in summer where weekdays are bigger than this time of year (except for Frozen apparently:oldrazz:).

At the end of it's 2nd weekend MU was at 20.1m, Frozen is over 1m more before its 2nd weekend has even started.

Henry Cavill standing on top of an icy mountain singing Let It Go with his cape blowing in the wind: every straight woman and gay man on the planet would die of ecstasy one minute in.

Frozen, it seems, just keeps on defying norms and expectations!!

But, if it constantly defies norms doesn't defying the norm become the norm?:cwink:

Expectations are certainly a moving target when it comes to Frozen, after it's opening weekend the majority of people were saying 70-75m for Japan would be reasonable (due to weekdays being weaker this time of year), now you'd be hard pressed to find anyone not thinking 100m+ is reasonable.

Straight guys would be okay for a while. Your first viewing would merely "turn" you. But if you viewed the movie a second time, then it's game over.

Yeah, Frozen beat the odds and honestly, it's unbelievable and unexpected that it's the only original animated film that crossed $1 billion. Unbelievable! Disney's Walt Animation Studio must be delighted.

At this rate Frozen will pass Toy Story 3's $1,063,171,911 as the all time biggest animated movie worldwide by next weekend.
Frozen is currently 1.032 billion, and Japan is looking to add 20m from Mon-Sun, domestic should be another 1.7 through the same period and about the same from other holdovers for about 1.055 b going into next week.

There's another target that doesn't get mentioned, somehow Ice Age: The Meltdown did $715,922,939 and is the overseas animated champion, Frozen has done $635,107,000as of last Sunday, it needs 81 million more to claim that crown and that looks like an easy number from Japan (91m or more just from Japan passes that).
