Disney's live-action Pinocchio

You simply flatout see it isnt about anything else anymore.

I am surprised at how annoyed I am that they just right up lifted the Disney design for Pinocchio right from the cartoon.

I probably won't even watch this. I have given up on the live action Disney adaptations. Last one I watched was The Lion King. After that I said no more.

Well, at least it's better than the "live action" Lion King straight up lifting most of the script verbatim from the animated version.

You forgot to say sucking the life and personality out of it as well. :o :hehe:

Yeah it’s so depressing, the live-action adaptions are destroying the old movies and I have no fun watching them again…NOT

relax, if you hate the live-action adaptions and think thesuck and are lazy attempt to waste your money: don’t watch them. watch the old movies instead.

let those people the fun to watch the old movies in a new way.
I like the new Lion King version

Not sure why you're taking subjective opinions so personally, but alright.

For all the lifeless remakes like Beauty and The Beast (still hurt by that) and Aladdin, you have excellent ones like Cinderella, Maleficent and Cruella.

Willing to give this one a chance.

Definitely gonna be watching this one. Been loving the live action remakes like The Jungle Book, Beauty & The Beast, The Lion King and Aladdin. Even had a good time with Dumbo. Have been looking forward to this, Little Mermaid, Peter Pan and I believe they’re doing Snow White also?

Aren’t they doing 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea as well? I also need to watch Lady And The Tramp still.

I gave up after Beauty and the Beast. Sat out Aladdin and Mulan too. And when I read the reactions to The Lion King, when they said it was slavish to the 1994 film, I sat that out too.

I'm dreading how The Little Mermaid is going to turn out next year, since the original was my first Disney movie and it has sentimental meaning for me. Not a fan of Lin-Manuel Miranda's songwriting either. Halle has potential as Ariel, but the remake has a very high bar to meet for me.

I wish Disney would remake their subpar animated movies like The Sword in the Stone or The Black Cauldron. Don't remake what was done well the first time around.

I think The Little Mermaid will be alright. I’m rooting for Halle. For me, it all boils down to how she aces “Part of Your World”. That’s the Disney songs of all Disney songs lol.

I also hope they remake Hunchback of Notre Dame. The most underrated movie in their canon next to Atlantis.

Wasn't a Black Cauldron remake announced like a long while ago?

I remember reading an announcement about it on Twitter, but I can't remember exactly when.

It was in development but nothing else. No writer, no director, no actors attached.

I wonder if they'll ever get bold and remake Pocahontas. That has a snowball's chance, but that would get the Internet buzzing lol.

If they do, it would be more like Mulan with a serious take.

Only one I’ve seen is Aladdin which I surprisingly enjoyed. I got through the first 10 minutes of Lion King before falling asleep. The CGI may have been realistic but it lacked any energy or heart.

Hunchback is one where you could bring in closer to the book with its tragic ending. The stage adaptation was able to use the brilliant songs but keep Victor Hugo's original intentions. Think more Les Miserables than Disney's Hunchback.

I'd love to see them do a remake of Newsies that is more like the stage version, it's more of the very few adaptations to stage which is superior to the film.

I LOVED Mulan. I’ll also say that I liked Cinderella better than the animated version. Malefiscent and Cruella were excellent as well. Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast were ok/not bad. I didn’t hate Lion King. So I’m not too judgmental about this. I will say that none of these films really get me excited per se.

I agree that Sword in the Stone would be one I would be interested in seeing.

Oh wow Zemeckis is actually directing this? Somehow I missed that. The movie looks okish, I don’t think it’ll be anything really special. Though I’m just now realising that I don’t think I’ve ever seen the original animated movie .

Was Cinderella really considered a live action remake of the cartoon? It's nothing like the animated version. From what I've seen of it, it's simply a new version of the story.

It wasn't like Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin which used the same plot, characters and music as the animated versions.

Well they kept most of the things that are iconic in the animated movie that aren’t from the original story.

Yes. It's heavily padded, but still a remake.
