Doctor Strange Casting Poll **NEW** - Part 1

He hates CGI movies, so I took him out of the running.
In his defense, he said the cgi was well done in the first movie and that it was over the top in the second and third. Fellowship looks best IMO, i agree with him.

I think Doctor Strange works better if he's American, but I would like to see Lee Pace reused. I think Ronan was kind of a waste of him as an actor, and he was completely unrecognizable in the makeup, so I think they could get away with it.
The really cool thing about him is that he's actually from Oklahoma yet his British accent is really good. I do agree that his talents were not used to their full effect or at least he was Marvel's trope bad guy. Thought he could come back if he wanted to if you consider how unrecognizable he was.

Wait, seriously? I feel kinda stupid now, but mostly I am just impressed and baffled. I thought for sure he was British. I think it's partially because he looks British, partially because I've only seen him in things where he uses a British accent, and partially because all of the Lee Pace fangirls I know are also super into Doctor Who/BBC-type stuff.

The more you know!

Oh yeah, he's a good old boy, like Peter Dinklage.

I'm counting the minutes until we get our own Dr. Strange section. So far I've counted way too many

I want casting news more than a Doctor Strange section. Nothing against it or your excitement by any means. I just REALLY want to know what they have in mind with this movie. And more importantly, WHO IS DOCTOR STRANGE???

It would appear as if Marvel had someone two weeks prior and each party is working out a schedule with a personal contract for this actor or the deal fell through and now Marvel is looking for another actor. Either way, we'll know the cast before spring 2015.

I'm crossing my fingers that Phoenix has the role and that they're just working out the contract details right now. Hopefully we'll get some kind of news soon.

I would also like Dr Strange to get his own section. I don't know what the hold up is at this point . We know the movie is being made and we already have a director. But I'm sure we'll get one before the year is out.

As far as who will play Dr Strange I'm still hoping those Joaquin Phoenix rumors were true and he ends up getting it. I wouldn't mind Jared Leto either, I think he would be an interesting choice. I gotta be honest I don't want Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr Strange. I don't really understand why he is fan casted in everything.

I don't understand Benedict Cumberbatch either. The only thing I saw him do was play a piss-poor version of Khan so far. There are lots of skinny villains he looks like he could play, but his voice is too deep for most of them. He's definitely no Doctor Strange.

But I don't really get the love for Phoenix either. For one, he doesn't look the part. Two, isn't the guy a loose cannon? He seems like the type who might do one appearance as Strange and then back out of more. Hell, I thought casting Edward Norton for Banner was idiotic in that he would probably say he was tired of the role after one movie anyway. And don't give me some mumbo jumbo about contractual obligations. At the end of the day, if you don't want to do a sequel, you're not going to do it.

Some of you guys are way too picky. You have two great actors (allegedly) up for strange and some of guys are outraged at that.

Theyre not gonna do better than Phoenix, but there are other options.

Jack Huston can play the role of Dr. Strange.

I too would be very happy with Joaquin Phoenix being cast as Doctor Strange. Though if that doesn't pan out, I'd still like to see Mads Mikkelsen get the part, or for a more left-field choice, Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Marvel using Chiwetel Ejiofor for Dr. Strange would pretty much be tantamount to giving Black Panther the middle finger. :o

I don't see anyone outraged at anything. Just cause some people prefer one actor over another doesn't constitute outrage. I'll trust marvel with whoever they pick.

Shouldn't Strange be officially cast in like, 2-3 months (like Ant-Man last year)?

They haven't steered us wrong yet. Pretty much every casting choice has been widely accepted and loved. Even the recasted roles.

Yep should hear who soonish.

Whomever it is has already been chosen most likely, since they were hinting that had the deal been...finished it would've been announced at SDCC.

They'll probably let Guardians have it's time under the spotlight before moving onto 2016 films. They aren't in any rush no. And if it is somebody of the caliber of Phoenix is lined up, they might until wait to script rewrites are finished.

Watch Sherlock, think they are all on Netflix. Biggest takeaway he'd do a great job grounding the crazy and weird things DS does and says. And he can command a scene for sure. There was plenty wrong with St Into Darkness....but I wouldn't say he was one.

Just curious, why do you think he doesn't look the part?
He's not really a loose cannon, he did the fake meltdown movie...which I think way too many people haven't moved on from. He's consistently worked and had great roles up until and after that. Moving past that could be his reasoning for taking Strange.

In my own personal opinion we would be incredibly lucky to have either one, especially Joaquin Pheonix.

With the rumored selections for Doctor Strange, we can assume Marvel is going for someone either extremely popular on TV or a film star. Suggestions for Pedro Pascal, Aiden Gillen etc just don't make much sense.
