someone posted in the Avengers forums, about a week or so ago, that Benedict Cumberbatch was rumored to be in negotiations with MS for the role.
I have no idea how much truth is in this rumor, but I like the idea very much.

I'm on the fence with Cumberbatch. He's a good actor and I really liked him in Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy, but I haven't seen any pictures of him that really sells him as Strange. I have faith in Marvel and if they do cast I'm sure it'll work out great, but as it stands now I'm on the fence.

Yeah, I'm in with Cumberbatch as Strange because he's a good actor but then they need charismatic yet cheap actors to fill in the supporting roles.

I read about it in one of the News & Speculation Threads over at the The Avengers forum, maybe one or two Thread Managers ago.
I googled it and it seems like the rumor is older than I thought. From December, I think.

Ah alright. I wouldn't be opposed to it, I think he'd be a great choice.

I am sure I'll be in a pretty big minority, but Pierce Brosnan would be a solid choice, imo.

I like the idea of an older-looking strange.

After watching Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy again I'm warming up to the idea of Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange.

Oh definitely. It may be clichéd, but Ken Watanabe could pull off the Ancient One pretty well.

Maybe cliched on the surface, but that's not why I thought of him.

The way he chose to mentor in all the karate kid movies is sort of how I picture the ancient one, unorthodox(especially to strange) but everything has a purpose that he'll find out when he needs it most. And he was always pretty funny, and I always have thought of the ancient one as someone who'd throw out a few great sarcastic and funny comments when strange would first be attempting magic and all that stuff
