Doctor Strange Casting Poll

Adrien Brody would be acceptable. Again he is a FAR superior choice to Patrick Dempsey, who seems to be a fan favorite for some odd reason.

Dunno if he's a *fan* favorite or not; it's just that his name keeps cropping up because he's actually contacted Marvel to play the role and actively campaigned for it. There haven't been any other names officially floating around yet, just fancasts.

Adrien Brody really has the right mix of factors that would make him attractive for Dr. Strange. He is a strong actor and he has a fair amount of name recognition, but not so much so that he overpowers the role like Depp might. He has had the lead role in some big blockbusters, but not enough to where he is out of Marvel's price range. Lastly, he has a great look for Strange. He is one of the faces for the new Gillette ad campaign and he really has a great look for Dr. Strange.

You pretty much explained why I think Adrian Brody would be most likely to get the role.

Its fun to speculate hypothetically about possible casting, but there is zero chance that Patrick Dempsey will be playing Dr. Strange. They'll probably choose an attractive, fairly accomplished, but relatively unknown British/Aussie actor. When I can think of a "name" actor that would be good, Ill put my two cents in. Hmmm...

Most of the actors that come to my mind are bit too old at this point i think. Target age for me would be 35-42, but thats not hard and fast.

It depends on what "version" of the character they're going with. How about Benicio del Toro? The problem is all the most prominent actors today under 40 are too "pretty boy" for me to imagine in the role. If the character is a ne'er-do-well hipster living in the East Village (at least at the beginning of the movie) that opens up the casting quite a bit.

Depp is 50. Not a bad choice, but too old, facelift or no. Since the vast majority of people have no idea who the character is, they'll have to do a proper origin story, so they need a younger man.

It has to be Patrick Dempsey, and yes I know he was terribly miscast in Transformers 3 and is in Gray's Anatomy, but not only is he actually a pretty decent actor but he looks the part and has come out and said that he'd loved to do it. I'd take a punt on him

at least he ain't a liar. I don't mind Dempsey, I actually enjoyed him in Transformers 3. However, I just don't see him as Strange. He's too fair voiced, he just doesn't have a very imposing demeanor about him.

Patrick Dempsey is a black hole of charisma, imo. He literally sucks the fun out of every scene he's in, even with charismatic people around him. Like DarkSovereignty said, Strange needs to be imposing. He also needs charisma. Dempsey has neither of those attributes. I'd take an "old man" like Depp over him any day.

So what does everyone think about those Dr. Strange casting rumors from the CHUD forums? I mean they're most likely total BS, but I know Joaquin Phoenix has been brought up here (even on this page), and I think Joel Edgerton sounds like an interesting choice as well.

I'm just gonna ignore the Milo one.

IF those rumors are true (and that is one giant IF), then that would mean we'd get Dr. Strange casting waaaaay sooner than expected with the character being in Thor 2.

I don't think those are true, but Edgerton would be the most intriguing, since he is an up and coming actor in star power who can break out with a franchise.
