I like the choice of Depp for it. But I doubt he'll get it.

Someone suggested Joseph Fiennes. I'm pretty much sold on him. He's 40 years old, but hey, Robert Downy Jr. was in his early 40's when they started Iron Man.

Yeah, Doctor Strange isn't exactly the kind of character that requires an actor that is younger than that. 40 is a fine age for Doctor Strange.

I don't know, I could see him in the role. People know him from romantic stuff like Can't Buy Me Love and Grey's Anatomy but it's not like that's all he can do. Obviously a Dr. Strange movie would be a different kind of role.

Dempsey's a decent enough actor, I could just never take him seriously in this role.

i could see it. Might be the break out role he'll need. I'll remain open about it and wait for other further infos and confirmation. :)

I'd prefer Dempsey over the ridiculous and overly typecast choices out of this poll here...

I think Dempsey is one of Disney's golden men (from Enchanted) and would be less expensive than the other golden man, Depp.

D-Day Lewis! Though I think Dempsey is a fine choice. He's certainly got the ******** doctor down...

Uh, I've never really liked Dempsey, but he kinda looks the part...

I could see where Dempsey would make a lot of sense for this role. He is liked by Disney, is recognizeable but doesn't command a hefty paycheck, and has a large female fanbase. Add that to the fact that he is a pretty good actor and has a good look for the role and this could be some inspired casting.

He's more suited to be Strange than John Constantine.

I can deff see Jim Caviezel as Dr. Strange. He played an amazing role in The Count of Monte Cristo and I think he would play well a character that has lost everything and has to build himself back (which is pretty much his role in Monte Cristo minus the dire need for revenge and epic ammounts of gold he finds :oldrazz:)

I think hes a great dramatic actor and I think thats what the Strange Movie needs, a guy that can really make you feel like hes lost everything and has been dwindled down to pure nothingness. Then regains himself throughout his trials and tribulations.

My personal choice (And has been for ages, since before it even looked like a possibility) is Billy Crudup. Not only is he a great actor (nice and serious too) but he wears a moustache WELL!

Nice choice.

It's pretty good to see him get suggested for past roles in numerous films as well. Usually when someone plays Jesus or stars in a religious movie it can kill their career not to mention all the haters hate because "oh noez! He played in a religious movie and we hate religion!" :oldrazz:

Looking at that manip that was done, I could see Dempsey in the role.

My dream would be to have Neeson play Doc Strange, but he's probably over the age they'll go for in a solo film. But I'll be damned if he doesn't have the perfect mentor-ish, wise, and powerful screen presence for Strange.

In that case, I'd love to see what Clive Owen could do in the role. Great actor, makes a great hero as seen in Children of Men and even in King Arthur IMO, is a great bad ass (Sin City), good age so that he doesn't seem too young for the experienced sorcerer but is also a realistic age for Marvel to go for. Plus he totally has the look down cold (with a beard of course):

There are a lot of other actors I'm sure would own the role too. Viggo, Caviezel, and Guy Pearce to name a few who would be great as well IMO.
