Doctor Voodoo: Avenger of the Supernatural

Thanks for the explanation. I still have a hard time buying the idea that Dr. Strange would ever just retire. He can't just quit, even if he loses his title and all of his powers. He would still be engaged in this struggle in some way. He wouldn't just fade away and go off to look for "the simple joy in living." So, I still think it's out of character.

And why did the Eye of Agamotto abandon Dr. Strange? Which other comics am I supposed to be reading in order to understand what the **** is going on in this series? I already spent four bucks on this single issue. Was there not enough space to explain this stuff somewhere in this first issue?

He's supposed to have his own mini. Don't know if it's started yet, but I know it's just called Strange.

And as to why this happened, the short answer is, Bendis.

Strange hasn't started yet.

Anyway, why the Eye abandoned Strange isn't really an issue for Doctor Voodoo. Fact is, it happened, Strange did his part in preparing the new Sorcerer Supreme for the role, and he's off doing his own thing now. Doctor Voodoo is about Jericho, so Strange's portrayal in it, out of character or not, is relatively minor.

Wasn't Strange's use of the demon Zom in World War Hulk a big part of why the Eye abandoned him?

I think so. Most of the explanations for Strange losing his Sorcerer Supreme status are in New Avengers, which I don't read, so I don't really know all the details behind it. I just know that Jericho's the Sorcerer Supreme now and his comic's been fairly enjoyable so far. The rest doesn't really matter to me; I'm sure Strange will regain the position eventually, and we'll probably get a recap of how he lost it in the first place then.

I'm strictly a trade guy these days so thats how I will pick up this series. I was never a fan of the mystic side of things when Strange was SS. Seemed too omnipotent sometimes. I like that they are building this new guy from the ground up.

Ha! Who gets a doctorate just to teach high school, anyway? All of my high school science teachers had bachelor degrees.

All relative as far as what you want to do and what you can get a job to do. My wife with a masters in child development couldn't get better than a job as daycare administrator for An Army base,... the jobs that she was qualified for required more time than she was willing to stay in one place for.
(Military spouse = moving every two/four years.)

She could teach elementary,.... Middle,.. High school,... as a byproduct of her education,... but you couldn't pour her into having to deal with some of the smartazzes out there who force the world to suffer their learning curve.

Meh.

The evil which Agamotto foretold has seeped into Earth and amassed an army of possessed children of the supernatural -- all former candidates to the mantle Sorcerer Supreme!

Jericho's journeys through the Everdimensions, in hopes of halting this darkness, have left him broken, near death. With help out of reach and the fabric between our world and the shadow planes corrupted, Doctor Voodoo alone must defeat an army of Earth's most powerful lords of the arcane and their unnamed master!

Strange should still be Sorcerer Supreme. I like Brother Voodoo, but I don't know if I can ever get on board with this thang

Dammit, people, you actually think it's gonna last? Why not just enjoy the story for the time being.
