You're speaking about the exam as though it is the ultimate goal of your education. That's what bothers me.
You said it's "good practice for a test," not, "a good way to permanently retain the information and concepts."
There's an enormous difference. This mindset is part of the reason that people cram for tests and soon after forget all of the applied concepts.
This is exactly my issue with the education system as it stands.
