Don't Hate The Hater, Hate The Hate! - - - - - - Part 18

I hate that another person I actually liked at my job, a manager, got transferred. That's the tenth person this year who's either been transferred or just quit.
There was this relly awesome and funny guy that worked in the same "office" of mine that got fired this past Monday. It was shocking because he did his work well, and he's the second person to be fired in the past month. Aside from that, in the 4-5 months that I've been there, there have been about 7-8 people who have left and since there's only like 25 people who work in our building, its really noticeable to see that almost everyone is gone.

I, of course, am planning to add my name to that list at the end of the year.

Yeah sounds like they are downsizing, and probably in that desperate "hopefully we'll figure out how to keep this company afloat until next year" thing instead of "yeah let's maximize our profits!" thing. Losing 30% of your people in one location can't be good for morale....

I hate that I don't know how to program well enough to just churn out whatever I need to make these fancy websites I have planned for my clients. Of course code widgets exist to make that easier...but the good ones cost money and I won't steal them because that's just bad karma. (And my best friend's an IP lawyer...) I know I can deduct for business expenses and the particular widget I'm looking at would definitely pay itself back in the equivalent 3.5 hours that I quoted as my rate, but still, MONEY. Ugh, I'm such a cheapie Asian. :csad:

I've actually heard a rumor about my company merging with a couple of other companies, since its a family business and the owner's son are in charge of their own smaller companies. We're moving to a new location in a couple of months that is much bigger than our small office now, but unbeknownst to everyone else here, they all think that the space is just for us.

It also explains why we're in a bit of a financial mess and have been holding checks for payment of many of our vendors. There are so many problems here and I don't blame anyone for leaving when they did because things just seem like they're only going to get worse, especially when one of the owner's sons, with a Napoleon complex, takes over after his father retires soon. Plus, in reality, there's no room for growth in this company and they rarely give raises or bonuses.

I have a sinus infection that I've been getting over extremely slowly over the past few days, and I feel really spacey today, like my head is disconnected from my body. I really kind of want to take a nap.

Working alone for 7 hours tonight might be interesting, hoo-boy!

Customers are gonna think I'm high.

That is a bad sign, IMO. Burning bridges with your vendors is definitely not a good thing.

Can you breathe through your nostrils at least? Have you tried a sinus rinse? I use a neti pot but my sister uses a squeeze bottle and they both do the same thing. The neti pot is perhaps more forceful since it uses a stream of water, haha. They're fantastic for clearing out your sinuses, but they only work if your sinuses are at least halfway clear to begin with.

I've staved off multiple colds by using a neti pot just as I feel something coming on. One time I could feel my sinuses starting to clog up so bad that I felt it in my eyes, but the rinse helped a ton and I didn't get sick in the end.

but only use a neti pot if you boil the water first.

otherwise bad things could happen...

My SIL has been here for almost 10 years and said this was the first time they've done it, but it has been the longest amount of time. It has been so bad that my co-workers have ran out of excuses for why the checks that we have that are already printed and signed haven't been mailed. Excuses such as the owners not being the office to sign it, or there being a holiday and maybe the mail wasn't picked up or delivered, to even using Hurricane Sandy as an excuse, since we're in Jersey and this is around an area that got hit hard. It really sucks because I want to do my job well but can't knowing that we're being dishonest. It just goes to show what kind of people I'm working for and with.

Yeah we have extremely hard water and I just buy distilled water for that. Bypasses the brain-eating amoeba danger. :cwink:

Although, I think the times those have happened with sinus rinsing, they were using well water.

I hate how I've gotten so far away from gaming that owning a PS4 or a X-Box One doesn't really excite me. Especially after seeing so many unboxing videos pop up in the last half hour.

Same. I didn't even bother buying a 360 or PS3, and I've been spending the last few years a little upset that I couldn't play certain games.

But then I'm not into shooters, so modern gaming clearly isn't for me anyway.

Oh I have a 360, and I play games when I can, it's just that very few interest me these days. The only games that have interested me this year were Tomb Raider, Injustice, GTA 5, and WWE 2K14 (which I hope to get soon); and I'm not really into FPS games either.

And there really aren't any games on these new gen systems that I'm interested in.

I hate that I picked up PACIFIC RIM on Blu Ray sight unseen when I also got MOS tue. I had hoped I would really enjoy it. My appreciation is suboptimal at best.

Sell your copy on Ebay.

I'm picking up a PS3 some time next month. I've got a 360 but never got the PS3 so with the hopeful discounts on it, that's the time to buy and catch up on all those exclusives.

Maybe next year after the price goes down I'll get the PS4, XBone and it's "I spy" can sit and wait.

I pre-ordered a PS4 the second it was announced and was lucky enough to get a Launch order, but I didn't have money for it. Now I have a job and I could have afforded it, but I don't have the time for it, so I let my brother pay for the order and take it. I hate it because my interest was at an all time high back then, but I've been very out of touch lately and that scares me. I hate getting old.

My interest has waned too for somewhat similar reasons. I'm still interested but it's just not the right time for me.

In a way, I'm grateful that I haven't had any time to play since now I can go and order a lot of the stuff I've missed out on on Black Friday and much cheaper prices. And when I finally do have more time to get back into gaming, I'll have a bunch of new stuff waiting for me. I do notice that I go through phases where I don't want to play anything at all for months, until one day I go back and it's like I'm addicted to it and can't stop.

I've been there too. There will be a week or a month or occasionally several months of playing intensely followed by weeks or months of complete disinterest.

At first the new Capital One Samuel L. Jackson commercials were OK, but after playing it constantly to death, it's gotten annoying.

^Nick Fury is really interested in banking... Maybe, TOO interested? (Hans Zimmer horns blare)

Here's something I've really grown to hate, people who use the term, " I could care less." Think about it. You're actually saying that you could care less about something than you do at that moment. What you're trying to convey is that you couldn't care less than you do at that moment. Try it in context.

I could care less about that movie. - I could care less than I do right now about that movie.
vs.
I couldn't care less about that movie. - I couldn't care less than I do right now about that movie.

Steps off soapbox.

Dude, I'm pretty sure somebody hated on that 17 threads ago......also that old chestnut, "For all intensive purposes".

But you know, I could care less. :o

I hate when people say "should of". It's "should've" or "should have".
