I hate politics, its all b/s to me...and all my conversations with friends devolve into it, eventually...I'm not liberal or conservative, I don't understand why everyone feels the need to define/recruit me...

I hate the word and concept of "overrated".It's basically saying "I hate something that everyone else likes therefore you're wrong and stupid for liking it"Of course some people may legitimately have actual reasons for thinking something is overrated,but I have problem when people just say it with no real argument and reason.It drives me nuts.

I don't think that somebody saying something is overrated automatically means that they hate it.

I mean, I think Inception is overrated. I still really like the movie, but I don't think it's the life-changing masterpiece that a lot of people seem to think it is. And I still own the DVD.

This. One of my best friends says Fight Club is terrible because everybody likes it. How the **** does that make sense? He says it's overrated. Horse****

Perfectly. The term should be used for what it means rather than use it as a reason to say you personally dislike something just because it's popular.
