In short, what Blackman said!
I was joking about the ridiculousness/immaturity of statements like that.
In short, what Blackman said!
I'm certainly no GA in this case. I'm so old, I played WC1-2 on Intel 486 PC. I tested my sound card in setup menu. So I have zero idea what GA will think. Something tells me it's gonna be like Dredd. Fans and geeks will love it (especially in countries, where playing MMO games is a full time job), GA will be largely unimpressed (except for visuals, probably). But since fan base of WC is far larger than of Judge Dredd comic books, it will be more successful in BO. It already shows impressive pre-sale results in various countries. China, Russia...It's because as guessed, the aim for the film was oddly never general audiences. They were too focused on the gamers. My bet is the Hollywood Reporter critic played the game. Here gamers can't take what critics say at heart because most critics aren't gamers.
As Variety even notes....

Negative critic reaction is pretty much a given.
Im not expecting this to be a winner with the critics. Even the best material Warcraft has to offer will probably be dismissed as fantasy drivel for pimple faced nerds. I doubt they will give this film an inch of slack no matter how "fun" it is.
While Im definitely curious to see how badly the critics react to the film, they wont be swaying me from seeing the film in theaters.
What kind of records?I read that it's tracking to do record numbers in China. This could truly be a film where international box office does save it.
No we aren't.Oh come one, we are better then this in the Misc. Films section.![]()
Look, there are game based films, that people enjoyed big time, but were panned by critics - Resident Evil (guilty pleasure of James Cameron, by the way), Mortal Kombat. If someone is using critics to decide if he/she should watch the film, I can only pity such person.
I find it stupid to be so dependent on someone's opinion.

Presales. I'm not that good at understanding the Chinese box office. I just know what I read on the box office theory forums. What kind of records?
Let's wait for more reviews and, what's far more important, BO performance.I'd say more these reviews just reaffirm the belief that a lot of non gamers have had about the film already. As said these were my thoughts to the marketing material. I just had no idea if it was abysmal marketing or if the final product would be this dull and alienating, which it turns out to be. Basically while for gamers it might seem harsh, for general audiences a lot of being on the fence was the exact reason these critics panned the film, that they completely forgot they were making a movie that had to sell to the masses.
Thank you for the info. Do they have numbers for other countries?Presales are open for Warcraft, X-men Apocalypse, and Alice in China. Warcraft presales are massive considering how far out they are. Several times higher than those other two combined. Like bigger than Civil War and possibly closer to Furious 7 massive.
Yesterday presales for the midnight releases of each film was as follows
Alice - 146k
X-Men - 78k
Warcraft - 2.77M
Warcraft was up to 4.66M for the midnight showing this morning. The film is still two weeks away. Civil War's midnight presales were 4.7M when the film was 48 hours away from release.
Shouldn't you take this same advice, before ****ting on critics?Let's wait for more reviews and, what's far more important, BO performance.

I know.No we aren't.
Please, point where and how I **** on them.Shouldn't you take this same advice, before ****ting on critics?
You dismissed their opinion as of course it is going to be negative, as if they have some preconceived notion. You know the critics that gave incredibly good scores to Fury Road and Zootopia. Please, point where and how I **** on them.
I didn't like trailers, but clips grabbed me. They have absolutely different energy and feel. Those 4 clips, released a week ago - that's what sold me on the film.No need. I can see you're a gamer and fan of this series. But those reviews don't sound obnoxious at all to me. I can see how gamers would be let down and offended at viewing the material as dull and lifeless. But, that's as said exactly as I saw the marketing material and everything released. If it improves I'll consider it, but given how spot on these reviews have been to all the footage I've seen? I highly doubt it will change. As said, all of the footage released just comes off as highly alienating.
Gamers won't be listening to critics. They're booking tickets already. With that said, I don't think gamers should listen to normal film critics here. At all. Most normal film critics aren't gamers. If the marketing material and these reviews are an indication this is an alienating film which (being alienating) will rub them the wrong way. As Variety said, gamers would without a doubt have a much different reaction to the film than film critics.

I'd say stick with gaming sites and boards for a more accurate reflection of what you might think since chances are this will divide audiences by a lot.
