In comparison to the dailies of JW, if it keeps up, TFA can make at minimum $13 million domestically. But TFA's dailies have been surpassing so it seems TFA will finish it's domestic run over $940 million.

They should really consider doing a extended scene release next year. They could easily do another $60 minimum.

You say 13 million at least domestically. Is it doing the same kind of numbers over season? So at list 26 million more WW? Or are over season numbers doing better or worse then Domestically now?

I was just checking times for this weekend to take my nephews to see Zootopia, and yes...Star Wars still has two shows a day at that theater this coming weekend.

I actually impulse purchased a BB-8 wallet less than a week ago.

So the film made it to 2 billion. As I said before, all of the wouldbe blockbusters wish they could hit 2 billion.

I didn't even know Gods of Egypt had an IMAX release. Deadpool took over the IMAX screens around here a few weeks ago and that's being replaced by Zootopia this week, with Batman v. Superman taking its place in three weeks. Still, The Force Awakens had a good two month run here in IMAX. Around me, they're only down to 3-4 showings a day for Star Wars and it's already gone from some theaters. Forget a re-release, I say bring on the Blu-ray already.

Slightly off topic but I have no idea what my local theater is doing. They still have Gods of Egypt on IMAX. I thought that would be an instant pull after it's first week. Who knows. Star Wars is still on one 2D screen however.

I thought IMax was only 3d? I didn't think there was regular 2d when it comes to IMAX? So for what its worth at the regular theater where I love tomorrow is the last day they are showing the movie. Most movies only stay in theaters 1.5 months to 2 months where I l live. With tomorrow being the last day that means this movie made it for about 2 months and 3 weeks. So the movie lasted about 3-5 weeks longer than most movies do where I live. That is pretty impressive. I thought the movie would only make it to about mid feb by the time it would be pulled hear. Amazing spider man 2 only last like a month on the dot I think lol.

Well, Gods of Egypt is in IMAX 3D. This coming from Friday, 1o Cloverfield Lane takes over the screen but it is not in 3D. I also remember watching most of the Nolan films on IMAX and none of those were in 3D.

This late in the game I don't see TFA surpassing Titanic's WW gross. Only way that happens is if they do a re-release that has superb numbers.

Like how many dollar theaters are there even around? I had never heard of such a thing in till like a years ago when people where talking about it one here.

I don't intend to be mean, but there seems to be a lot of things you aren't aware of when it comes to this stuff. How old are you? I grew up with a 2 dollar show near my house. I thought it was a common knowledge thing.

TFA is also still screening at the local first run Premiere Cinema theater. Never left but now it also at the local second run theaters.

What is the connection between TFA and Deadpool? DP came out almost two months after TFA. It should be in theaters still.

$735,000 is the early estimate, -24% versus last weekend. Still in over 500 theaters. Only lost like 15 this weekend so that probably reflects picking up some dollar venues.

Second run theaters rarely charge a dollar anymore. They did for decades though. 2 to 4 dollars is more common now. Still, theaters only keep 30% of the ticket price. They make their money on the $6 sodas and $8 popcorn.

They don't literally charge a dollar. They used to but not anymore. The term "dollar theater" simply stuck despite increase in ticket prices. Now dollar theater refers to second run theaters that aren't part of a chain or corporations. They are usually independent or part of a small franchise. They also charge less for tickets than chain theaters. My local dollar theater charges $2.99 for a ticket.

Dollar theaters are very popular, though there probably aren't as many as there used to be. Our discount movie house closed down and the land sold to build a furniture store complex.

However, we do still have one close by where we saw Winter Soldier for four dollars.
