Episode 04 Discussion - "Collision" | October 16

You know what I just realized? Hiro was awesome because he was so giddy and, well, japanese. With him being all 'future Hiro' I think he's going to lose some of that appeal. But ya know, he'll gain more for being a total ninja badass.

When the evil dad/hornrim glasses guy says something like 'go deeper and then clean him out' I wonder if he means to remove the cops brain?

I think the short haired neighbour lady working with Mohindar is actually working for the bad guys.

Well, one of the previews has the cop's head cut in half and his brain exposed, so probably.

Okay, the episode is great, but the whole slow-as-molasses-building-until-FREAKIN'-COOL-END-TWIST pattern these episodes seem to be following can get tiresome.

Okay, now I hate Nathan even MORE - he's got TWO KIDS, he says he's happy with his marriage, but he still sleeps with Nikki? You're a politician! You SHOULD KNOW BETTER!

The Nikki kick-ass part was pretty cool - especially when she says "our son" - so there ARE two personalities! I'm thinking she got the second one when she was tatooed with that s-like symbol.

I thought it was funny when Mr Bennett said, "Just take the one", when looking at Nathan and Nikki - because really, there are three. ;)

Peter's plotline was pretty m'eh - and Suresh didn't mature at all this episode - he spent the entire time whining about how he doesn't believe his father's work anymore.

Ando really needs to stop speaking English. Like, right now. *lol*

The "Hiro from the Future" scene was awesome, and I was totally intrigued when he said he couldn't recognize Peter without his scar. Scar? Will it be a sexy scar? I certainly hope so.

But I'm a little wary of any future that relies on samurai swords and soulpatch goatees. Seriously, Hiro.

Also, with Claire's storyline - I was put off by the whole "you're never going to change, are you?" exchange while she was driving the car. It was like they were trying to justify what she does, but there's no excusing it - she's probably killed or crippled him. A sixteen year old boy. Nice going, Claire.

he raped and killed her, and had raped some other girl, and blamed it on her, like he was doing to claire, so well, there's no justification then to it

as far as the scar, how can it be a sexy scar if he didn't recognize him? HE COULDN'T RECOGNIZE HIM WITHOUT HIS SCAR!!!! think, dammit!!!!

but yeah, overall great episode, but yes, the show needs to keep the tension throughout and not do what they did last night, there were a lot of very cool things, but it all felt like a prelude for the last 15 minutes.

they need to work on that

and yes, future Hiro rocks all kinds of asses

That episode was awesome! Seeing Future Hiro only makes me like him even more, and he's already my favorite character. I wonder what Peter's role is, since it seemed important for Hiro to find him.

I like Suresh, but he definitely has to mature and take a leadership role. He's got really great potential.

I can't blame Claire for acting on her emotions and doing what she did. She's hardcore, but definitely one of the good guys.

I personally like how things are playing out, and are not too rushed. It's moving forward, and is really getting me pumped for the next episode.

She didn't kill him in self-defense. She deliberately, and with pre-meditation, offered to drive his car with that in mind. That is MURDER. Technically, it's WORSE than what he did - he killed her by ACCIDENT. She committed PRE-MEDITATED MURDER. Which is WRONG, and EVIL, and INEXCUSABLE.

If she'd killed him defending herself from his attacks, that would have been excusable. If she'd killed him defending another girl from his attacks, that would have been excusable. While he was an immature rapist, that did NOT give her the right to kill him out of hand. It was a cold-blooded act and I have zero faith in her character now.

That's not to say she won't be interesting to watch, but I don't consider her a hero anymore.

Well... it obviously all depends on your personal moral barometer.

Is it evil to maim or possibly even kill someone to prevent them from raping teenage girls?

Hmmmmmmmm... I wouldn't call that evil at all. But definitely highly debatable. Kinda like The Punisher gunning down criminals so they can't be set free to commit more crimes. Not evil, but questionable.

have you ever been raped?

Murder > Rape. If you're raped, you can move on, you can keep on living, you still have a future with possibilities.

When you're dead, there is NO way to redeem yourself, NO future, and really, NO justice.

Rape is bad - and that jock was an a-hole, no doubt, but that doesn't mean he deserved to die. She planned it in ADVANCE! That was vengeance - and vengeance in that manner in morally wrong no matter how you slice it.

Some of you people are really, really, really, really, really, really easily impressed.

The only good part about this episode was Hiro getting hit in the face. I like Hiro, but that was comedy. And there as nothing "OMG!! Awesome!" about future Hiro. "You look different without your scar." What? Seriously? That's some pretty bad writing. "Peter has a scar in the future!!! Holy Sheyat, the future must be wicked scary." Who the hell is stupid enough to say that to someone's panicking past self when you're trying to keep them calm. The only thing you're going to do is make the fact that time has stopped even more horrifying.

Nikki's 'Hulk', felt about as threatening as acne. I didn't like Nikki/Ali to begin with, but this pathetic attempted at being 'bad-ass' makes me hate her more. Her "You're different" interaction with her son was something else we could have done without. Terrible.

Claire killed the rapist, finally something to like about her. We need someone who doesn't have a problem with killing people. Claire>Nikki/Hulk

Nathan, yawn. Shuresh, yawn. Peter's love triangle with FuturePaint, boring. She's not even that attractive. It's really hard to like anyone in this show apart from Hiro.

People have compared it to Lost, it's far, very far, very very very far from being anywhere near as good as Lost. And someone said it puts Smallville to shame, then Smallville must be one of the badly written, boring shows ever made and I'm glad I never view it as anything more than Superman trying to be Spider-Man.

yeah, whatever, I asked a question, you have not answered it

Well, I get the feeling the writers of the show don't see it your way. But you're welcome to your opinion. As I said, it's entirely a matter of personal moral barometer. I for one am a big fan of vengeance. :p

But I know how you feel, because I watched seven seasons of Buffy, and by the sixth year I thought they all became complete a-holes. :csad:

Because I know your response. I'm going to say, "I have not been raped", and you'll say, "Then you can't possibly understand Claire's situation, blah blah blah".

There's no excuse for rape.

There's no excuse for murder, either.

Claire is supposed to be a HERO - HEROES are above that.

I have to admit I cringed at that. It was a really, really forced little piece of dialogue. Ali played her reaction as well as could be hoped for, though, so kudos for that.

I wouldn't be so sure. I bet we find out he's alive next week.

Peter's love triangle with FuturePaint, boring. She's not even that attractive.

She'd look better if she changed the weird hairdo. But she's pretty enough.

someone said it puts Smallville to shame, then Smallville must be one of the badly written, boring shows ever made

I tried to watch it for two seasons. I assure you, it really is that bad.

What makes you so sure she's a hero? Despite the title, I imagine not all of these people are going to turn out to be heroes. Captain Futurepaint, for example, is someone I completely expect to become a villian. And Claire could just be an anti-hero in the making - as I said, someone who will grow progressively grimmer and more brutal in how she handles evildoers, someone in the "Punisher" vein.

I don't think it really comes down to the writers' morals - it's an interesting plot point, one I'm willing to keep watching. Antiheroes can be just as interesting as heroes. This doesn't mean I'm not going to enjoy watching what happens to Claire, or that the show is in any way immoral.

I'm just saying that Claire can't exactly call herself a good guy anymore. Shades of grey.

I enjoyed the last seasons of Buffy, but I agree - morally grey people everywhere, what with the Crazy Willow and lovey-dovey Spike and the redemption of Andrew.

This brings up a good question. Why does Hiro visit Peter. Interesting. I get the feeling he's sort of one of the most powerful "Heroes." He's a power mimic and I think that makes him important to the plot line. Big plot device. Hopefully after encountering Hiro, Peter will be able to briefly mimic his time stopping powers so he can show proof to "Apu."
Okay, I don't get it - where does the idea that Peter's mimicking people come from? The only power he's ever shown is that of flying - and Isaac showed a picture of him flying!

Peter said that after he was near Isaac, he drew the future, and after he was around his brother, he flew. Hence the mimic thing.

This show is fan friggintastic. It's like watching a comic book,I love the cliff hanger endings to every episode.

Hey....yeah! I wondered about that little stick-figure drawing he did. Wow - I totally didn't get that before. I'm a little disappointed - I really wanted Peter to be the flying dude, but Nathan will have to do, I guess.

Ah yes, Nathan. The "happily married" politician with the power to... sleep with the first willing chick he meets in Vegas. Dick.

By the way, do you know where I can find a preview video for the fifth episode? I live in Canada, so the NBC version is pre-empted by one from a Canadian station that doesn't show the preview.

spiderman reference= awsome
dayum claire....its like that?

HERO FROM THE FUTURE...HOLY $@^@:)
