I was always under the impression that Harvey had the coin before his transofrmation into Two-Face, and that he flipped it out of habit, like some make coins fall over their knuckles, or chew gum.
After the acid, he devolpes a Jekyll and Hyde type personality, the only differenece being that "they" both exsist at the same time.
The coin, as said eariler, is his big desicion maker. I highly doubt Harvey'll flip it every time he wants to breathe or blink. Small things, eating, sleeping, bathroom, ect.
"Big" desicions, ones that most everybody has think about, are the ones that get decided by "fate", as it were.
"Does this person die?" Flip the coin.
I think it might be interesting if, in the courtroom, when Harvey is burnt, he's flipping the coin, and some acid spills on it, severly scarring one side in the process.
I agree with the high-lighted part. Flipping the coin should start out as a habit. However, I don't agree with the last paragraph, having the coin be splashed by acid would be too much.
Why is that? To me, it seems logical, so long as Harvey is flipping it during whatever trial he'll be burnt it. (Joker? Maroni?) He's flipping the coin, asking questions, and the acid is thrown on his face in mid-flip. His hands, naturally, quickly cover his face in pain. The coin falls to the floor, and either some extra acid that didn't make it to his face falls on it, or some deluded acid drips off his face, burning/melting one side of the coin. This way, it forms a sort of "relationship" with Harvey/Two-Face.
But, I respect your opinion, and thank you for your agreement on one subject.

I think it'd be interesting to have that be the reason he needs a new suit...but I doubt that'll happen...does no one like my acid flying about and getting over Battys suit etc. idea?
id like to see other people get covered in acid too though with the spillage. Like If BAtman dived to get Harvey out of the way, we should see smoke and fizz from the acid as it makes holes in the batsuit. We shouls also see at least 1 other bystander get acid on her (ill go for a middle aged juror on this one) and she gets a hole in the cheek.
they should make it look like a real bastard torturous scene in my opinion.
The horror of what has happened to Dent. An innocent by stander gets splashed and Batmans suit gets eaten through by the acid.
I personally loved The Long Halloween's treatment of the Two-Face origin. I like having Harvey a man with some anger issues (for whatever reason; doesn't have to be because of his father, but it could), who deeply believes in the concept of true justice. In TLH, he's pushed to vigilantism (or close to it) after one of the mob is set free after trial. That's when he gives the "They let him go as if they decided by the flip of a coin" speech. He also says in this that his "crazy" father (history of mental illness anyone?) gave him the double-sided coin, which i think has lady liberty on both sides (very fitting). This sets it all up very nicely when he is splashed with acid in court as his already fragile/violent state of mind is fractured. It's a great comic book moment where you can almost see his psyche crack in two, seperate personalities, Good Harvey Dent who wants to jail the bad guys and Bad Harvey Dent who just kills them. It fits even better here because the fact that half of his face is scarred fits perfectly with both sides of his personality, driving the insanity home. They could borrow heavily from this and make a really great portrayal of the character. It's just so well-rounded that you could understand how a series of huge coincidences could cause this to happen to someone.
In the end, he was one of them![]()
i think i got confused - in one of the Burton films it shows batman diving across Billy Dee williams in the court.
u guys r right anyway - i must go to sleep now

Why would Batman be there in the courtroom first place?
I would actually love for the scene in the movie where he gets scarred to go completely silent. You just see him screaming and freaking out and writhing in pain in the courtroom but all you hear is a Bale voice-over saying that exact line."I will never forget the sound of his screams..." Sweet.
