Two more miscast characters

Can't handle the criticism? You DO realize that this universe aside from WW has been a critical failure? Do you just want people to agree with everything you have to say here? What's the point of that?

I prefer DC characters. But the MCU is simply better. The DCEU was a failed experiment. There's no denying that at this point.

Just wait for WB's statement on this. They're going to acknowledge their failure as they try to course correct.

I'm gonna hang in the DC side because I prefer the characters. I don't have a passion for those Marvel characters like I do DC.

Liking DC =/= liking the DCEU

I didn't care for MOS, or WW and I only sort of liked JL... And I criticize a whole lot about those three movies, and even BVS and SS... Like all the time. So if I shunned anyone who directed criticism towards the DCEU, then I'd have to shun myself.

I actually didn't realize a lot of these movies are critical failures... I hadn't considered that. I think I should dislike them also. No but seriously, seeing other mediocre or just adequate movies with no personality, no idiosyncratic appeal and no real passion or drive behind them get lavished with praise by the critics has disillusioned me and expunged any and all care or respect I had for how films are regarded by them.

You clearly said you hate the entire universe. These forums are to discuss the universe. You chill in a forum meant to discuss and speculate about aspects of something you hate. What's the point? You'd be better suited going to the Disney forums and coming back when the reboot happens. If anything, your passion for these characters should be even more of an incentive to steer clear.

Dude i see what you're saying about the MCU. I do. Some of the films are cookie cutter and very safe. But then you've got stuff like the first Avengers, the first Guardians, the first Iron Man, Winter Soldier, Ragnarok and Civil War and it's hard to hate on them. They DO take risks.

You can't defend JL and then criticize Marvel for not taking risks. It's hypocritical.

I find those very easy to hate on :cwink: I only thought two of those were good and even those didn't take risks. How do you qualify "taking risks"? I didn't defend JL btw... I think the first thing I said after I saw was that it was a disappointment. The safe-ness of JL was my main gripe with it. No hypocrisy there at all.

. I genuinely prefer DC characters. I don't care about Marvel characters beyond Spider-Man and Wolverine. But god I just question your taste if you really think the DCEU is better... That's ok though, it's all down to opinion. I just don't get it.

That said, I'll gladly watch the DCAU over the MCU. The DCAU is still the best cinematic/tv superhero universe

I think Ezra was the worst casting decision in this movie.

Does anyone else agree? His whole performance was basically him making goofy faces that aren't funny. None of his jokes landed.

Agreed, only worse casting choice for the DCEU so far is Eisenburg.

I wish that Ryan Reynolds/David Goyer Flash movie would've happened. He would've been so much better.

Ryan Reynolds as Flash in a movie written by David Goyer? Get outta here with that. Reynolds doesn't really fit any of the Flash versions (Barry Allen, Wally West, et al) and David Goyer is the king of campy writing. And while Reynolds is great, even perfect, for Deadpool, he'd make a terrible Flash, IMO.

I didn't like Ezra either, as he definitely didn't fit the Barry Allen character and maybe would've been better as Wally West, but his performance didn't fit as Wally either.

I can't think of any actors offhand that I would've preferred as Flash, but I definitely think they made a mistake going with Barry Allen when they could've done a really good Wally West instead to offer something different from The Flash CW show, which has a stronger Barry Allen (compared to its Wally West character).

I thought Ezra was great. The guy is a fantastic actor. I think he did really well and I personally found him quite funny.

i got no complaints about ezra as flash.

i like how the character was written and what he brought to the role - he's probably my 2nd fave character in the movie.

but to each their own.

Ezra was so annoying as The Flash. It didn't help that the writers constantly tried to give his character a "OMG, jokey" type attitude that just didn't fit, that and his voice kinda grated on my nerves. I was not a fan.

After Green Lantern, it's probably for the best that we didn't have a Reynolds Flash film. We wouldn't have gotten Deadpool if we didn't.

Ezra Miller is not playing Barry Allen, he's playing Zack Snyder's Flash, a completely different and much worse character. We're not gonna see a true live-action Barry Allen for a very long time. We've been denied of it.

:whatever:

GA and critic sentiment actually say Ezra's casting and his Flash character is one of few redeeming qualities about JL. I know JL is not perfect in terms of storytelling and editing, but the cast is definitely not the problem.

To me, MoS and BvS alone are better than whole MCU. And this is not a hyperbole. Same goes for TDK trilogy, Logan and DofP.

Ezra was the best part of the movie

I have to say, after my second viewing I thought Ezra's Flash was actually the highlight of the movie. And I cannot believe I'm saying that considering I'm a pure lover of brooding. :funny:

Ezra was easily the worst. Anytime he said something I cringed.

Which is the problem, from WB's perspective: Ezra's Flash is divisive. Not in the same way MoS was, but there's still a solid split between people who liked him, and people who disliked him. Its not the same breakout that Gal Gadot had as WW.

That didn’t really happen for Gal until after the WW solo though.

Eh, even in BvS, amidst the condemnation you had the almost universal reaction of "And then Wonder Woman stepped on screen, and it was like a breath of fresh air".

I feel like it was split just as much as it is for flash.
And then there were the rumors about her solo before it came out.

I think we’ll see something similar with Flash’s solo.
He just needs the right writer and director.

Ezra was hit and miss for me. Some of of his delivery fell kind of flat (I think this was more or less the writing. Perfect example being the exchange between Batman about saving people). I also wasn't huge on how some of the shots seemed to dwell on him looking uncomfortable.

I think with better direction, the guy could be killer.

But Zod damn, they really need to work on his running style for the next film. Some of it just looked straight up goofy.
