I think Domashev could possibly make a lot of sense if u look at him as being the exiled heir of a deposed rulership. He would be a child when this happened, sent to the US, maybe a trust fund set up for him, and raised by handlers of his father's regime.
he grows up here but it's always beaten into his head that he is something special, he is the only legitimate heir to Latveria. which is being ruled by a US puppet democracy. even the people of Latveria see things as being worse now and there is romanticism for the old ways.
Doom's blog, hack thing is a pro-independent Latveria, and he is taken to be the voice of this heir in exile. runs this under the handle, D00m or Doom or whatever.
there is nothing about this that is counter to the essential character of Doctor Doom. if u look at this as like origin story, it makes lots of sense that he be in the place that he is.
once whatever accident happens, he suddenly either has or has access to way more power than he previously imagined, and he is able to retake the country by using this power. more than half his own country is ecstatic about this, so the UN cannot really go in there and force him off the throne again. for the time being, he is the returned legitimate heir.
i'm not saying it's gonna go like this, but this is something that makes sense, no?
sounds like the origins of Doom to me, for the most part. works to the essence of the character.
