So what? Fans do that all the time, if they like what they see, they like what they see....whether it's a realistic view of what is being shown, or one that is full of optimistic, ignorance is bliss....

So what? It's a movie, it's not world peace.

People are upset and are finding every single thing they can to back up their view...ok, that is what people do....so I'm not sure why others take it so personally when someone takes a negative view of a movie they are excited about.

I think people really need to just step back, and breath. It's a movie, people disagree with their likes and dislikes...but the constant, "I can't believe they can take this crap" kind of posts, or "Why can't people stop speculating and just wait for the full movie before forming an opinion" kind of posts just repeat themselves, and repeat themselves, and repeat themselves. If either group stopped posting their views positive and negative, this entire site would shut down.

The posts that call people out, "those people", "that group", do nothing to further the discussion, it just turns it into a personal vendetta to be "right"....and those kinds of discussions never lead to good things. It's not a group against group, fight till someone wins. It is a group that is excited for a movie, and one that is not...it is a difference of opinion that is WELCOMED ON THIS SITE until it turns to the personal "fight to win the debate" rather than a fun, hype-filled exchange of ideas and opinions.

My issue is that the posters who state outright that they want the film to turn out terribly and fail critically and commercially are the ones who reply to every single positive post and mock it to the point where they're the only ones left talking. Anyone who does have something positive to say is drowned out and shot down to the point where they simply leave the FF boards.

It's not a fun exchange of ideas here, it's just, "this movie is going to suck and nothing can ever change my mind as long as Fox owns the rights and if you disagree, we'll make fun of you until you go away." That's not a conductive environment.

I for one dislike the costumes but still have hope that this will turn out better than the Tim Story films. I just dislike the elitist and condescending environment here.

Okay? And?

I've literally said over and over again that I do not care if somebody is looking forward to this movie.

Don't care. Look forward to it all you want.

Then why do you reply angrily towards anyone who appears to be even remotely positive and absolutely vitriolic on a personal level to the cast and crew of the film? You seem to go for personal attacks more than anyone else here.

What you're really saying is, "look forward to it all you want but don't open your mouth."

Is this the thread about the movie or the one about how other people post? Oh wait.

I reply sarcastically to things I find funny, or hypocritical.

And I have not personally attacked a single person here. No insults. I will mock what you say though. I, on the other hand, have been called fanboy and hater ad nauseam for a while now.

You're 100% free to put me on ignore if you can't handle your echo chamber being violated.

Hmmm....

yet, you call them out in your posts constantly....

Your sarcasm has become personal, and it is getting tiring. We have warned in this forum numerous times to stop that personal little jabs at other posters yet you can't seem to get the idea.

He doesn't need to put you on ignore, you simply need to stop the personal jabs at people that you disagree with....

This was not an opening to continue the personal gotchas....move on.

Key is respect.

For every person who is excited for this film there's going to be 5 more unexcited, its the unfortunate beast that this movie is. Any positive post will be countered with negative feelings, and any negative post will be countered with those who want this film to do well.

The cycle will never end. Its a very controversial film, and ill favored by a majority.

Because of this, everyone. Just needs to respect each other. Opinions will not be changed via convo, only with what is shown. Dont atempt to sway others it wont work.

Just be kind

Yep, it is what it is..... :(

The one thing that bugs me though, is that I would love nothing more than to support this project. The FF have always been a favorite of mine.

The Story films were bad, but when I was watching them, I felt like a parent who goes and watches their child perform in a singing contest. You want to support them, but when you hear them belting out notes with no clue as to what the melody is, you put a big smile on your face and say "good job sweetie!" Even though you know they were terrible.

With this project, I feel that this is like a child who hangs out with the wrong crowd, has a serious drug habit and you're thinking about kicking them out of the house. It's your child and you know that you should love and support them, but you won't put up with them disrespecting you and ignoring your rules as a parent.

That's how much has changed with this project, but it pains me to see this. The FF are a great property, they deserve better treatment than this. I look at what Marvel has done with these films and they are capturing everyone's attention, and these were all their so-called "B-list" characters.

This is what should be happening with the FF. The studios should be embarrassed of the source material where they're having to shove it under the rug.

Perfectly said, great analogy

How can you tell the difference between embarrassed and someone seeing something different in the property than you do?

I loved Jim Carrey's Mask movie but only later found out the comic was a complete 180 in tone and characterization. Someone seeing comedy in a series about a killer is embarrassment?

By paying attention to what Tranq says about the property. It doesn't take a detective. You can practically feel his sneer coming through every single interview.

The mask wasn't a long standing iconic comic book character from the 60's. There are a lot of people that grew up with these characters and wish to have a film that represents their memory of them. Currently from what I've seen, Trank has made an interesting looking enough scifi film, that I'm sure plenty of people will have an interest in and enjoy, but don't try to market this as a Fantastic 4 adaptation.

Here's the painfully obvious part. "Ignorance is bliss" what you dont know, wont bother you. If you dont know much about the source material of a film youre going to have a different perspective of a film compared to those who do know source material. Its that simple.

It can be a deadly game, in that what people watch, is what they think the source is about. When Ang Lees hulk cane out i knew alot of people who were upset that it was nothing like the 70s tv show... i know people who are educated via films, and when we finally get something thats comic accurate, something weve been waiting for. Thry go "no thats not the way its suppose to happen, because it didnt happen that way in the previous franchise"

Its just frustrating when that happens. Movies are the biggest medium to reach the widest audience. When you are a fan of something for a very long time, you tend to hope they make a live action film that brings these characters to life. You want it to feel like its the same thing youve always known and loved. When they make it unrecognizable. Its very bothersome. Even more so when it leaves a false impression to the general audience about said characters and stories

Yep.

I don't WANT to hate this movie. Only a lunatic really would.

But there's very nearly nothing about this production that appeals to me.

Lol i guess it depends on what you mean by "want to hate" because at this point... i want to hate it (and im far from a lunatic) its just weighed far past its date, once it was quickly confirmed this would likely be nothing like we know the F4 to be (which was very early on) i wanted this movie to cease to exist... to bomb hard. I wanted (and still do) it to go back home to marvel. I want a great f4 film franchise and i feel you cant truly do that without namor and the marvel universe. So yes, i want this movie to bomb because its not what i want. I hate this film, its production, and practically every decision theyve made has been cringe worthy.

I dont want to hate a fan 4 film, because i want it to be fantastic... but this is not. So yes.. i do enjoy hating it, and want to continue

 Take the 1 second clip of The Thing out and the trailer is completely unrecognizable. Seriously, if we showed this trailer to someone who didn't know anything about it and we edited out The Thing and the title, that person would never guess it was Fantastic Four.

Based on what we've seen, we can't compare this to UFF or any other run because it's completely unrecognizable.

In very simple terms, there's no excuse for a film that calls itself Fantastic Four to be completely unrecognizable as Fantastic Four.

And I have to admit it chafes my butt when someone says this doesn't have to look like FF because FF is a 'minor property'. Not only does that show a complete ignorance of the history of comic books, but why is Fox making this film and why are people posting so passionately here if that is true?
