I dislike Snyder too. But this is just disingenuous. Snyder's Watchmen and 300 are ridiculously like the comics. And even if he made a sombre Superman film, he still nailed the aesthetics of Super-man.

Moleman?

That is so cool....
Yeesh.
"There's the opportunity to make something that is challenging and tragic and dramatic," adds Trank. "The opportunity is right there in the material. We'd rather steer it in that direction as opposed to just embracing a tone that comes right off the page."

Neatly dressed and looking somewhat dapper in a suit and tie?![]()
perhaps he gets mutated later in the film?
See? Clearly the colorful, outlandish comic book suits just won't work on film so they need to make it as gritty and realistic as possible. That's what people want in their superhero films. Trank gets it.

Shame we didn't get a clear look of The Thing.

Cool, it's the Fantastic Four!(looks away from bookshelf and back at his computer screen)
Why the **** did somebody make a movie about Jamie Bell and a rusty bicycle, and why does it feature Michael B. Jordan wearing a speaker, Rachel Maddow chilling with the military (and Tim Blake Nelson), and Kate Mara looking like she'd have regretted adult film less? Weirdest indie drama ever.
t:I don't know if this film will do good or bad at the box office but does anyone else think Fox is going to have a really hard time making a sequel to it if Trank doesn't come back?
Hey, now. Rachel Maddow is a very handsome woman.t:

It occurred to me. What do Batman Begins, Captain America The First Avenger, Amazing Spider-Man, Man of Steel and Daredevil (Netflix) have in common?
Answer:
They are all reboots that are grittier in tone than the previous version.
Has there been a superhero reboot that wasn't grittier in tone than the previous version?
That's a genuine question as I can't think of any.
I haven't seen Punisher War Zone but ive heard it's darker than the first
Considering that it's really no surprise that this is grittier since possibly every other Marvel/DC reboot has been darker
