I dislike Snyder too. But this is just disingenuous. Snyder's Watchmen and 300 are ridiculously like the comics. And even if he made a sombre Superman film, he still nailed the aesthetics of Super-man.

Okay let me clarify that point. Snyder is probably one of, if not the most faithful directors when it comes to adaptations. However the guy sometimes say buffling things to justify the choices he makes in his films. For example, read his interview where he tries to justify the death and destruction in MoS. His reasons are sometime head scratching and often leave you saying "What". Which is why I compared him to Trank. It had nothing to do with adapting source material whatsoever.

See? Clearly the colorful, outlandish comic book suits just won't work on film so they need to make it as gritty and realistic as possible. That's what people want in their superhero films. Trank gets it.

Not really. Sequelizing the FF was going to be hard no matter what.

Giving the FF costumes and media presence isn't hard.

Moving beyond Doom though? Don't want to see SS/Galactus again.

Pulling a Spiderman 2 on the FF villain roster would be hard for anyone.

haha, the trailer was awesome but out of context this looks nothing like the FF. really, only the Thing is reminiscent of the comics. Hopefully this does well but if not, I'll be happy to see them come back home.

The Incredible Hulk is lighter fare than the daddy issue filled Hulk, and the most popular Punisher film was arguably a bit lighter in tone than the first (referring to Jane and Lungdren versions respectively, as most people forget War Zone was the second reboot). Lungdren, terrible Frank Castle he was, didn't use popsicles as an interrogation tool. His Punisher was crap, but it was dark, gritty crap.

I'd wager the next FF reboot will join the list too, regardless of which studio makes it and when.
