Most people would disagree with you on that.
I'm not so sure. I loved the movie when it came out, but on multiple viewings the problems become more obvious. blatant misogyny, annoying x-kids - especially the terrible party scene -, editing issues, continuity issues, disappearing accents...
as much as I enjoyed Fassbender as Erik Lensherr, Nazi Hunter and as much as I enjoyed McAvoy in every scene, two great performances and an awesome first act is not enough to say this movie is good. at least not for me.
And in fact a lot of people think about the movie the way I do, probably more than you believe

No it wouldn't. Here you are drumming up an image in your head of what a comic book accurate FF movie would look like, yet all you can picture is a Tim Story rip off? Trust me, you can do so much with the characters. Done well, it would look nothing like that cheap, cringe-worthy franchise that is, at this point, nearly ten years old.

That was not the main crux of my argument so I'm not even sure what the point of this rebuttal is.

So you're basically fine with them making a FF film that does not resemble the FF in tone or spirit? That's great, but I hope in the future you will understand other fans vitriol against this production. We would like our comic book movies to resemble their comic book counterparts. I don't think that's too much to ask, do you?

X-men FC was nowhere near this maligned, and I say that as someone who was looking forward to that production. I remember defending it quite a bit.

I don't think I've ever said it's just plain wrong to want that.To say it will be terrible cause of that, that is where I have issue, cause its factually wrong.

People can use whatever language they want when describing a film that does not in anyway match up to their expectations, especially when said film has yet to come out so we don't even know whether or not the final product is worth defending.
"In this new, lo-fi gritty take on the FF, all four are around the same age, transported to the negative zone where they get their powers, spend a good deal of the movie in baggy, drab containment suits that in no way resemble their costumes, and fight against Domashev, an anti-social computer hacker who blogs under the name Doom."
I think it's more than fair to call that "terrible".

The comicbook is being cancelled due to poor sales. The last movies that were similar to the comics in tone were critical and box office failures. So failures in both fronts.

As a studio, why would Fox want to sell something in the same packaging as the previous failed products?

I think you're the one person who actually buys that reasoning

This film actually seems to be trying to recreate the first film.

They're doing a low budget origin story with an inexperienced director and Doom will be connected to the origin of the others and get powers of his own.

Why does that sound so familiar?

Just wait for the sequel with one of the few other characters they own. Silver surfer and galactus!

Few?

Willie Lumpkin
Alicia Masters
Frankie Raye
Franklin Richards
Herbie the Robot
Valerie Richards
Annihilus
Skrulls
Lyja
Wizard
Puppet Master
Blastarr
Dragon Man
Lucia von Bardas
and etc.....

and I guess they have Uatu the Watcher too and who knows which shared properties Fox have with Marvel Studios.

And yet, the only one that can carry a film is annihilus. Thus why i said "few" and stick by it.

You made it sound like they have only two characters that they could introduce for the sequel and that is just not the case. They have enough characters to use for 5 to 10 movies.

If FOX follows through on their plans for an X Men TV show both characters will be long gone by the time the highly anticipated sequel, "Fant4astic 2: Domashev's Revenge!" hits theaters.

I never realized how limited they are when it comes to some of the more dynamic characters they can use. No Submariner, Black Panther, Inhumans, Klaw, Ronan, Kree, Kang who is probably with Avengers, and Frightful four certain members. That's some of the more interesting elements. Their biggest ace is Surfer/Galactus and I don't see any proper attempt to that again after the previous film. And lets be real here, they wouldn't do it any justice considering the scope of world threat and big budget requirements.

Of course it was sexist, it was set in the 60s. And you're seriously complaining that teenagers are annoying? Have you spent any time with them recently?

And the continuity issues got smoothed out in DOFP... except the ones from XMO since that film is now thankfully completely non-canon.

The parts about the accents and editing are still pretty good points.

Mole Man, Psycho Man, Terrax, Terminus and a potential Frightful Four lineup of Wizard, Trapster, Molecule Man and Mad Thinker could all work. It's not just Annihilus and Galactus. They have other villains.

They seem to be ragging on the movie pretty much every other day lately.

It's why I dislike the site in general. Cracked has a tendency to rip on things and make everything seem horrible when everything they're doing is trashing people's hard work. I don't find Cracked to be funny, just obnoxious.

Sorry, i specifically meant villains, considering those carry films

Yup, you cant have a truly good all compassing fantastic four franchise without the frightful four, black panther, inhumans, and namor imo. Those are some of the best f4 stories

The frightful four would be completely rehauled (and please... the trapster has always been a terrible villain) because majorty of the members are with marvel/sony

And half those wouldnt carry a film very well imo

But like 95% of people do think this looks horrible...

the possibilities are endless and I hope that Fox secretly has the shared rights for Namor and Medusa!

Lets hope

Considering that Fox decided against giving those two back for a Daredevil extension, I doubt that Fox will give them back just for TV rights.

Marvel will presumably want Fox's merch rights back in full so they can produce merch and make a profit. Considering that the manufacturer and retailer also take a cut, it doesn't make sense financially to produce movie merch of the X-Men or FF if Fox is making risk free money and Marvel is operating at a loss.

Marvel would presumably want that first because they'd make the most cash off of it. Marvel also won't merge universes until the Avengers have already fought Kang, High Evolutionary, Namor, Korvac and MODOK (and adapt the Kree-Skrull War, Siege and World War Hulk storylines) since they won't need the X-Men or FF and can make a profit without them.

The merch rights deal will probably happen in exchange for the TV rights. I don't see the crossover between X-Men and FF occurring until Marvel starts Phase 4 at the earliest and want the Shi'Ar for Captain Marvel, Guardians and Avengers films but probably Phase 5 since the Guardians can fight Count Abyss, Captain Marvel can fight Moonstone and the Avengers can fight Kang before any of those franchises even touch the Shi'Ar.

Marvel won't merge universes until the end of Phase 5. If they're smart, they won't cut deals until they stand to gain something at the same time as Fox.
