Where is the idea that this movie is going to be nothing but dark coming from?
If it’s the teaser trailer…I feel like it’s pretty obvious that this first teaser likely focused on the darker, more serious elements of the film in an effort to distance this version of the Four from previous films, not because the whole film is grim and dark.
I would imagine the next trailer will have more action, humor, etc.
I get the sense that the tone will be “weird and cerebral” more than outright “dark”.
People also keep confusing “dark situations” (which pretty much every superhero goes through) with “dark characters”. A serious film or series of events does not necessarily mean the characters themselves will be dark.
Nevermind that the Fantastic Four have been through some of the most serious, “darkest” situations of any comic book characters I’ve seen.
I dunno, people just keep jumping to conclusions based on little bits of info taken out of context.
Agreed.
There’s something of a double standard on this. It’s ok for some films to make changes and not okay for others to do so. Usually it depends on the quality of the film after fanboys view it, as many of them are unable to separate the degree of change from the quality of the film itself, but FF has been prejudged as being a bad film that has made changes to the source material.
Look at BATMAN BEGINS. Some sizeable changes made to Batman’s origin, his training, etc. The filmmakers felt they could honor the best of the mythology and make a more efficient film by making these changes.
