Think this is a new spot, tough to tell cause it's usually the same footage. Has more energy to it thanks to The Prodigy song. "Day is my enemy" is an awesome track.

They're certainly having more fun with the soundtrack than with the movie itself.

It feels like Fox thinks Tim Story is a God. They're trying to do everything the same way now as he did it back then.

Tim Story created a path that Fox refuses to diverge from.

I honestly think what you're seeing there is Kinberg, Willie. He used to do a lot of uncredited writing work for Fox, and he was an uncredited writer for the first Story movie.

Lol. Didn't he recently just flat out admit those were awful movies?

Hey, maybe they're thinking that third times the charm?

It boggles the mind that Fox's idea of resuscitating this franchise was to simply recreate Tim Story's template with some darker colors and teenage angst.

I think Chronicle is a damn fine film but I had a hard time getting over the found footage angle as I hate found footage type films.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I'm not going to apologize for liking and expecting good production values when it comes to big budget studio films. If others are okay with 100+mil dollar movies looking like ****, congratulations but I am not. I knock points off for that. Forget Snyder or Bay polish, FF isn't as polished as Singer's Days of Future Past either. FF isn't as polished as the ****ing Hellboy movies either and those were not super expensive films.

EDIT: Oh Darth explained it better than I. You can't cheap out on a Fantastic Four movie and expect people to not point it out. And Chronicle did look fine for what it was.

So you didn't read my post then?

Nope!
The votes are already in for us and people are hip to the games you avid suppporters play. Ultimately this reboot is seen by many as a huge letdown for legitimate reasons. There's nothing you can post that will change that.

If you like what Trank has flung on screen, fine. Just don't continue to insult our intelligence with gullible deniability and weak derailment attempts.

Ladies and gentlemen. I present you Marvels greatest villain.

Boom, hit the nail on the head.

After looking at yet another Dr. Doom cinematic misfire, I'm left wondering:

Why didn't Trank have Kebbell play Annihilus?

Rather than having Electro-Mummy Doom crawl out of the N-Zone pit, you could have Kebbell transform into an awesome space bug. There's your Cronenbergian body horror! Have Kebbell transform into an armored, winged monstrosity and snag the Cosmic Rod that he and Reed were working on. End the film with a creature that can match wits with Reed, battle through the air with Sue and Johnny, and stand toe to toe with Ben. Awesome!

Trank could have fixed FFINO on set without any recasting.

Toby: You're Annihilus now.

Myles: You're Ben. Now put on some damn pants.

Jamie: You're Johnny.

Michael: You're Reed.

Kate: You're still Sue. Throw out that stupid wig.

Tim: You're still a government agent, but on the sly you are actually working for a mysterious Eastern European guy named Domashev. In the post credit scene, Domashev (think Wesley from Daredevil) will drop you off on an uninhabited (maybe not!) island for your failure. He will then report back to his Master and get blasted into paste by a mysterious armored figure.

I'm curious as to where you think this looks like a Tim Story FOUR movie. Beyond the basic elements of Doom not being faithful, going with the Four and being transformed and getting powers, which wasn't so much entirely Tim Story's doing as the studio and screenwriters, this looks like a wholly different approach than the Story FOUR.

I believe the answer to your initial question is Fox recognizes the value of the Dr. Doom name . . . they just don't understand that to get the value out of that name he should be done right. Just like they understand the value of the FF name without understanding that they need to do them right to get their real value.

Things like: Not making The Thing look like the Thing, not giving The Thing pants, not making Doom look like Doom, Not casting actors who looked more like the characters, creating costumes that not only look nothing like the comics but are completely stupid looking as well, changing Harvey Elder to a completely different character rather than introducing a new government agent named something else. . .

Seem so obvious and simple that it seems they had to go out of their way and really try to screw things up.

I imagine conversations like this:

Wardrobe person: I've got a yellow or red T-shirt. Which do you think would be better for the character?
Director: What color did they wear in the comic books?
Wardrobe person: Yellow.
Director: Okay, we'll go with the red.

Doom gets powers in the same accident as the Four, they spend a large portion of the film with just them in a lab dealing with their powers, then Doom shows up at the third act and they have to stop the trouble that they caused.

1. It's primarily an origin story (as opposed to something more interesting) in which 5 people (unlike the comics) go on a scientific mission which results in them attaining powers.

2. The second act and primary story and conflict will be the 4 learning to deal with those powers.

3. The third act will be the 4 fighting an organically powered Doom who was their colleague prior to the accident.

4. The fantastic four save the world from a threat Reed Richards created.

5. The cast is comprised of relatively unknown but respected up-and-coming young actors.

6. The film is being promoted with very brief, disjointed clips that give no feel for any real story but show a mix of action and lighter moments all to the tune of rock and dance music.

7. The posters for the film are primarily of the 4 actors standing around looking serious and ready for action.

8. One of the primary conflicts will be between the four and officious military people who look down their nose at them while needed their help and trying to keep them under control (as in ROTSS).

9. The budget is lower than most comparable superhero films.

Is the cgi on this movie even finished yet? Look at this, it's terrible.

Maybe Trank gave Ben the power to make metal disappear.:whatever:

Other than Doom getting powers in the same accident as the Four, that sounds like a pretty standard FF origin story.

I don't know that Story's films spent a "large portion" of the film in the lab, and this seems like it wil focus on those elements more than the 2005 film did. There were some rather quick, montagelike sequences.

A lot of this is just basic superhero origin movie stuff and general action marketing tactics. Not stuff Tim Story created or cornered the market on.

There are markedly different twists on many of the "similar" elements. IE, they actually seem to be associated with the govt from the get go VS asked to help in their capacity as superheroes.

And if you can't glean the story from these trailers, you aren't trying very hard.

It definitely reminds me of a Tim Story Fantastic Four movie. It looks just as horrible.

Ang Lee's Hulk already got this right a decade ago. No excuse, but don't worry there will be plenty. We just don't get. :funny:
