Is the cgi on this movie even finished yet? Look at this, it's terrible.

Maybe Trank gave Ben the power to make metal disappear.:whatever:

The special effects looks like those of those Japanese monster films. I can't believe people are actually defending this crap. There's no excuse for this at all. Looking at this gif alone should make those who defend it keep their mouth taped due to embarrassment.

There's not really anything to get behind other than the basic concept, which I rather like, of costumes that aid them in controlling and learning to use their powers. Theyr'e not really costumes in any real sense, though. These aren't meant to be an adaption of their comic book suits.

They're clearly not designed for visual appeal. They're meant to be more utilitarian and militant. They're also probably provided by the military/heads of the Baxter.

My guess is they're going to become a more fully formed supergroup toward the end of the film, split from the government's influence, and we may see something more classic then.

Film is a visual medium. Considering how easy it is to update the costumes while still having them look recognizable and visually appealing, this was a mistake on Fox's part.

Shockingly inept.

That's a fraction of a second which you need a slow mo gif to really see. So the turret disappears if you take the time to really analyze the footage? It's not a huge deal, particularly as the FF need a lot of CGI work in general. When the film is all but animated anyway and it's all green screen because the IP demands it, you can't expect all of it to look perfect.

A lot of this is just basic superhero origin movie stuff and general action marketing tactics. Not stuff Tim Story created or cornered the market on.

There are markedly different twists on many of the "similar" elements. IE, they actually seem to be associated with the govt from the get go VS asked to help in their capacity as superheroes.

And if you can't glean the story from these trailers, you aren't trying very hard.

the F4 shouldn't be really associated with the government at all...

OMG! You are kidding right?

Maybe it's the same answer as to why the Thing inexplicably explodes when he lands from a great height. Nobody gave it a single thought. It's like their vfx team just slept walk through the movie from what we've seen.

I didn't need the gif, and it is the same with the horrible drop from above.

For comparison, BvS has more and more difficult effect shots in its trailer, is still 8 months away, and looks damn near perfect in comparison.

By the way, who puts unfinished shot in their final trailer?

They usually do put unfinished shots though sometimes. Just astrocious like the Thing one. For example this shot:

Might be a bad example but I agree with you though. That Thing shot is soo bad and we're less than a month away from this flick. Don't even get me started on johnny Storm.

Yeah can we talk about how bad the Human Torch effect is in the flying scenes that they showed? What's up with that?

Not sure how there is a movie version of that shot, but there was a tv spot released with the lightning in. Either way, it looks miles better then anything in the FF trailer.

How can you possibly tell, he is flying so fast. Stop freeze framing. :o

I'm going to be perfectly honest here. I absolutely loved the very first teaser trailer for this film. It was intense, compelling and gave the impression of a unique superhero movie, not to mention the cinematography looked excellent. Everything that I've seen since then though has been underwhelming to say the least, perhaps they've completely changed the tone of the film. My cautious optimism is now gone.

I think that teaser was wildly overrated. Yes it was pretty good but that was mostly because of the awesome BroadChurch music.

Yeah it was a bad example. I couldn't think of any other one. But yeah the VFX in the FF look awful. Like did MBJ wear a mo cap suit for the flame on scenes?

I actually think this is going to be a slow-paced film with only 3 action scenes:

The scene of Ben fight the military installation, the scene of Doom escaping and the final battle scene.

Other than those scenes, I think the bulk of the film will be comprised of slower, more dramatic elements.

I don't really know if that's good or bad because they're not showing us those slower moments that are likely to fill in between the very small number of scenes we've seen in trailers.

But I also don't think it's going to be the science fiction film hinted at in the first trailer.

I think there's going to be a lot of screen time of people sitting around in military bunkers, worrying about their plight and arguing with military people. I think that's going to be 80% of the film.

It boggles the mind that Fox's idea of resuscitating this franchise was to simply recreate Tim Story's template with some darker colors and teenage angst.

That's the puzzling thing isn't it? I mean the Story films borrowed so much from Ultimate FF. The uniforms were even strongly reminiscent of the UFF, and of course Doom and Galactus were straight out of the UFF.

Somehow Fox/Trank/Kinberg thought "not enough UFF" and then even went beyond that with whatever the hell that thing is that's supposed to be Doom.

I do admire Kebbel's enthusiasm compared to the milk toast response from the rest of the cast, but to be honest Julian McMahon was just as passionate about Dr. Doom, but when the character is written so badly there's no escape.

Is it any surprise that the best villains in Marvel films have followed the comic counterparts very closely? Loki and Magneto for example?

The 2005's film's Doom had goat legs?

That could be your pro wrestling name. Icy "Super Peepers" SPIDEY.

The first teaser got off easy because expectations were much worse imo.
