That's not a serious time for the embargo to end. Why have screenings at all?

The advanced screenings except for the Aug 4th NYC premiere and that FOX contest screening (if its different from the NYC Premiere) all seem to be taking place Aug 6th and 7th. So the same days as previews and release date and the embargo dates.

Good thing is, journalist are gonna be so pissed about this embargo, that no one will be holding off the criticism...

Of course, every bad negative review will be reduced to "racist"

I guess at this point its best shot is mixed reviews.

Doesn't do any favours to the rumors of a problematic production, but I can kinda' see where they're coming from. People are so ready to hate it all the positives will be barely acknowledged and the all the negatives put through the magnifying glass. This way they at least secure a good opening day.

It assures people who go to the first preview won't have time to read any reviews but that's about it.

The press is not the fans - they don't as a group have it out for the movie. If FOX thought it was good then they'd lift the embargo earlier and try to build up some positive WOM based on reviews if not advanced screenings. Much of the general audience have no idea about all the background stuff going on with the movie.

FANTASTIC FOUR embargo lifts... 4pm PST the day before the movie comes out. Hmm. (That's for online. Print embargo lifts day of release.)

:lmao: This is going to be great.

If I recall, even for Green Lantern, WB didn't embargo print reviews till the day of. Lordy.

I wonder what is on the minds of those overly positive sites now (CHUD.com was on of them?)

Birthmoviesdeath (formally Badass Digest) have been treating the film with kid gloves as well.

We need a "this gon be good" gif.

If that tweet is true....Wow.

Thee tweet is from the editor of NY Magazine and Vulture Online.

The info was also tweeted by a critic for Variety, Ebert.com and Filmstage

Oh so this is not a rumor, this is the real deal.
Faraci is friends with Trank. Devin uses that website as a PR machine for his friends in the industry.
That's why I stopped reading the website. Corruption galore.

Take your pick. :o

This proves nothing!
For example, when did they lift embargo on Ant-Man?
It works both ways, you know.

Looks like the Friedberg and Seltzer flicks finally have company.

Even if they lifted the embargo on Monday or Tuesday I would have hope but the day before/of. WTF?

I suppose they are relying on somewhat positive fan reviews getting the spotlight online, from people attending midnight screenings.

I guess people willing to go to midnight opening day are more likely to like, or be more hopeful for, the movie.

Seriously how do you **** up the Fantastic Four not once, not twice but three ****ing times...it's so frustrating.

It figures that the desperate vocal minority would blow something as silly as a print review 'embargo' completely out of proportion and act like it means anything at all with regards to either the film's quality or the studio's faith in it. :loco: :whatever:
