On Rotten Tomatoes Fantastic Four is at 17 % while Ant-Man is at 80 % Dragonball Z is at 100 %

Ant-Man and Resurrection F actually catered to the fans. DBZ was a crowd pleaser. My sold out screening went nuts for at least a dozen jokes.

Is that even legal? Can they use Critics words out of context like that?
They shouldn't be able to.
Shouldn't Empire force them to take that down at least?

I suppose they potentially could, but everybody does it. It's almost common knowledge at this point I would say.

Though I wonder how Cyclopswasright would explain this away since he was determined not to acknowledge Fox's Marvel brand aping.

I still think he has the voice to make a good Doom.

Add him to the list.

How sad is it that the best version of Doom we have so far was in one episode of Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes? I mean seriously, how does one 20 minute cartoon episode characterize and nail a prominent villain so much better than 3 feature length films? Ugh, I'm getting a headache

Now watch this gloriousness and weep for what we could/should be getting

I weep:csad:

I actually think Oscar Isaac would make a better Doom than he would Apocalypse. Shame that he's taken.

Is it true that the origins of It's Clobberin' Time is[BLACKOUT] Ben's abusive older brother[/BLACKOUT]? Tell me that is a joke.

That interview is exactly what I have expected of him since I first saw him in a movie. I personally really don't see what everyone else does in him as a performer.

Teller has such an amazingly punchable face. IDK... I thought he'd actually be perfect for Reed Richards if they were going the ***hole route.

I like him as an actor, but yeah... Punchable.

:funny: I said the exact same thing to my co-workers not too long ago. I mean, yeah, he was great in Whiplash and The Spectacular Now, but part of the reason he was so convincing in those roles is BECAUSE of his punchability factor, lol.

Nothing says family entertainment quite like smacking a child around while quoting one of the best known superhero catchphrases. Yeah, it seems to be true.

In other news, I hear we were going to see Johnny's mom in the original cut. Who knew her cremation would start her son's catchphrase?

I think I saw that said in a review. I think, if true, that and Doom blowing up heads just showd you how mis-aimed this direction was, even down to the director's original intention. F4 should never have been a grimdark body horror sci-fi. It should have been more in line with Dr. Who or Guardians of the Galaxy than this. Good luck to the parents foolish enough to visit this on their kids.

I actually saw it in theaters and it wasn't until I saw it again on DVD that I admitted to myself that it sucked.

To be fair... GL and the first 2 F4 movies are actually pretty good kid's movies.

And I still stand by my assertion that Chris Evans made FF 1 and 2 cornball cheesecake classics. So much shirtless Chris Evans... FLAME ON! :ilv::hmr::ilv::hmr:

You sound like me justifying seeing the second one in theaters before of Alba. :funny:

OMG my husband was really upset that they recast Alba... And he's seen both movies. That's one of the reasons he hates this reboot. And that it looks like hot buttered garbage.

I will forever justify anything based on the amount of skin Chris Evans shows in it. NATM and WHAT'S YOUR NUMBER... classics!

I really would kind of love a FF animated series in the vein of Clone Wars or Rebels. Just... Anything to actually do these characters justice.

See, I don't hate that. That's actually sort of an interesting idea to incorporate that classic line, properly executed.

If they had say, used that to juxtapose the once-bullied Ben and his ability to now take down bullies, and his joy in being able to do so, it would give that line and its use some real emotional weight.

Or maybe they didn't need to shoehorn child abuse into a Fantastic Four movie.

I'm not sure how to feel about Doom. Hearing that Kebbell really nails the character through much of the movie.

It's not so much Doom having powers that bugs me...that's a writing shortcut to a similar level of destructive ability to the comic book Doom. I wouldn't expect all his classic elements to be forefront, and its been obvious for some time they wouldn't be. If he was portrayed as a genius in various respects, that would be somewhat forgiveable, it'd be something to build on.

But here, he pretty much just looks awful. I think that's sort of the point, really, they want you to see he's been through the wringer and all that, but all those glowy bits? The glowing green eyes? Meh. It moves into unintentionally laughable territory. He doesn't seem quite so laughable in the finale, at least in the brief clips we've seen thus far, but...

That seems to, once again, be the adaption's greatest crime. Not doing right by Doom.

With this logic maybe we can alter Captain America's back story to where his father used to abuse him and pick on him because he was a 98 pound weakling and told him to "assemble" his laundry or get a beating? Origins of Avengers Assemble confirmed!

15 percent at Rotten Tomatoes folks....fifteen percent...and it isn't even Friday yet

eh.... i beg to differ.. I don't think it's so great to steal a catch phrase of an abuser... and then beat people yourself...

if he had fond memories of he and his brother play fighting.. and the older brother use to say that... and then like died in a street gang (should be yancy street) and Benji picked that phrase up in honor of his brother.. then yea.. then i'd like that.

it's not the same thing as "batman turning the symbol of what he's afraid of against his enemy's" it tries to be.. but bats also never physically abused batman...

Child abuse is not something I want to think about as The Thing is preparing to beat up super villains. Completely out of place.

Yeah, it's a bizarre and disturbing attempt to give the character more emotional depth.

I don't think it's so great to beat people yourself, period.

So if you're going to be a character who is perhaps best known for punching people, and have some kind of arc where you turn that use of violence into something productive, I would think something like that would be okay.

I do think calling it "child abuse" is splitting hairs. It's abuse, period. Hurting people physically is generally abusive in one sense or other.

And yet physical violence is the backbone of the "hero".

if he had fond memories of he and his brother play fighting.. and the older brother use to say that... and then like died in a street gang (should be yancy street) and Benji picked that phrase up in honor of his brother.. then yea.. then i'd like that.

That could work too.

It doesn't need to be the same thing.
