Fant4stic: Reborn! - - - - - - - Part 41

I wonder how long it will be before they announce no sequel. Or have they already announced it, and I just missed it.

I've tried to stay away from this movie as much as possible.

They certainly won't announce anything until this is out of theaters. Then, at some point, they'll probably change the FF date to a different film. It's already being reported that Deadpool 2 will get the spot.

At this point, Fox will part with FF just to remove association with this mess. This has been a terrible week for them. Not even the Deadpool trailer could mitigate the bad buzz. Even without making a deal, I wouldn't be surprised if Fox just hands over FF just to not damage it's other films out of association. Them handing it to Marvel would also help their PR department immensely.

FOX will get approval for the proposed X-Men TV show and perhaps some additional programs as well. FOX can spin this - "As much as we love the Fantastic Four, we decided to focus our efforts on expanding our multi-billion dollar X-Men connected universe". As they did with Sony, Marvel will let FOX spin this however they choose.

I'm at the theater to see Straight Outta Compton for the 6:15 show. But there's a showing for Fant-For-Stick at 8pm. And it's right next door to us. I'm a tad tempted to slip in there just because I'll get to do so without financially benefitting FOX. Should I?

Do not desecrate the sanctity of the empty auditorium.
It is a place for quiet contemplation--not enjoyment or pleasure... "bless-ed be the bomb."

It has been reported that screenings are so solemn that you can actually hear a fan's heart drop...."bless-ed be the bomb."

They'll likely never announce no sequel. That would be admitting defeat.

Maybe they turn the rights over eventually, and put out a press release on that, but they won't say they aren't making another one until its absolutely necessary, like in that case.

No chance we are getting a sequel.

I never not expect them to unannounce no sequel nohow. Not gonna happen--noways

No! It's not just about the money, it's about turning our back on this completely.... Besides, since they probably didn't sell any tickets, it's going to be suspicious if someone's in the theater.:cwink:

"Sir! There's someone in auditorium 19!"
"What! Someone snuck into Fantastic Four?"
"Should we call the police?"
"Only if they walk out early---if he sit thru the whole thing---that'll be punishment enough."

Remember last week when a disappointed FFINO supporter lashed out with what I call "The Constantin Gambit"? Using an entry in a Wikipedia page, he attempted to convince folks hoping that the FF rights would revert that they were actually controlled by Constantin Films, not FOX.

Well this too has been proven incorrect in a new THR article. In a report on the 1994 Corman film, Roger recalls a conversation with Bernd Eichinger of Neue Constantin Film. According to Corman, "Bernd told me he'd sold both the film and the rights to FOX".

*insert saracastic shocked gif here*

I'm guessing Constantin got German distribution (the new film is listed on their site, but I've only seen their logo prominently featured on that German poster), and they probably get a vanity credit (this is common).

I was talking with some fellow employees at school today about this movie, and it was the weirdest thing, those that have seen (like myself) could not remember hardly anything about the movie. I don't think that has actually ever happened to me before, even with movies that I didn't like, I at least could remember parts of the movie. I honestly can't picture one full scene in my mind.

We didn't stay. But my partner and I did poke our heads in and over the walkway wall. There were literally--and I kid you not--a total of 5 people in the theater, which was full sized. We laughed to ourselves and left--that was sufficient enjoyment for us. :funny:

I will say this: from the quick glimpse I saw on the screen: Miles Teller is incredibly unattractive. I say that not only as a gay man, but as a moviegoer. He's just not a leading man type and desperately needs to grow a beard...or something.

Compton was good though.

In fairness to the disappointed one when I pointed out the history of the FF rights shenanigans to them they did back down on that score. I wasn't aware of the Corman quote mind you, I was just using the logic that Constantin were obviously no more than passengers on this particular Fox rollercoaster. Fox controls it's future, end of story.

Constantin must have retained that producer credit as a part of that deal though (Bernd might even have squeezed a % cut too, not that he'd get much from this effort).

And there we go.

Hopefully that puts THAT grasped straw to bed.

So true!

That's what happens when the characters are about as interesting as cardboard and the plot has no cohesion or progression.

That or our brains are blocking out the awfulness to protect themselves.

You speak the truth. He's an eyesore.

Well, I was told by these people that THR is not unlike your normal gossip publication in terms of reliability. They seemed REALLY convincing too, so I don't know what to believe. I'm so confused. :csad:
