Fast & Furious 7 - Part 1

I heard about this last night and was shocked speechless.
RIP Mr. Walker.

He was just a few years younger than myself.

I too am a fan of the Fast & Furious films.
He will be sadly missed. :(

I feel bad for Tyrese and his lack of privacy at Walker's memorial. It's awful that people are videotaping someone openly grieving a loved one's death. It's just tasteless.

In all honesty I feel like Universal should just stop production for this month atleast, and move the films release date to Christmas 2014 or something. Shoot the Abu Dhabi scenes in January as planned and whatever else that had to be re written can be shot thereafter.
But allow the cast and crew to mourn.

FF7 will still make a lot of money regardless of its release date. Just stop pushing this July release date, production was already rushed as is.

Yeah I can see a Christmas 2014 release. Also FF7 had a rushed schedule already so this can only ease director James Wan a bit. For its worth.

The only thing that sucks about delaying production is that the crew depends on those checks to well live. I'm guessing the crew doesn't want to jump back into shooting the film as well though.

I do wonder if the delay results in the post production people having to look for a new job. I assume however, that everyone involved was under contract from the get go.

Another thing I'm pondering is if Fast 8 gets rejigged into the mooted Hobbs spin off?

The Rock has been carrying the last 2 films anyway, which have been the only decent ones in the franchise.

I'm sure they won't let it end the F&F movies, as much as some people think it would be "insensitive", which is ridiculous.

The best way to remember this iconic actor would be to make the films as good as possible and maybe even pay homage to him in the sequels.

I don't think it's a matter of insensitivity, rather some of the core cast being unwilling to continue.

His dead or any death is just sad.

I can see it now, this movie will probably surpass Dark Knight Rises numbers with Paul's death. Dare I say, maybe even come close to Avatar and the Avengers numbers. They will need to show footage of whatever he had filmed up to his death and somehow "kill" him off in the movie or atleast explain his absence. As it is the Fast and Furious franchise was a very successful one, with this unfortunate death it will be even more.

Yeah, it's one thing to say Universal should plow ahead it's another thing for the cast and crew to want to continue. We also don't know what it does to the script. One of the reports said he had some key scenes left to be filmed, we don't know how vital those scenes were for the film.

Everything is fresh now, but when the dust settles they're gonna keep making those films. There's too much money in stake and they run a business. I don't know if Diesel or Tyrese will continue though, but the brand is big (or bigger) as the names.

I say end it with seven. Believe me, I'd have been on board for 8, 9, 10, . . . . 20, if Walker was alive and everyone else wanted to do it, but it just wouldn't seem right to move on without him. Him and Diesel balanced each other in a very precise way, and after this many films, there's no recreating that chemistry.

If the franchise is bigger than the cast how come Tokyo Drift didn't do over 100mil domestically? Make no mistake the cast is important to this franchise.

I think if the cast wants to continue to the franchise let them continue it but if they disband, the franchise is over to me no matter what Universal decides to do with regards to recasting and spinoffs.

I understand it's a business and it's a job so I won't begrudge the cast for continuing the franchise if they choose to.

Besides, and I'm speaking for myself here, now everytime I see one of those movies and Walker gets on a car, I'm gonna be thinking about what happened to him.

I think the production will be delayed a few weeks, if not a month, in order to allow the cast/crew to grieve, retool the film and do rewrites. Both cast and crew are still under contract to finish the film -- and I think Diesel and co. will return to complete the film in Walker's memory.

I agree, as unfortunate as it is these movies sell tickets because of the reactions between walker and diesel. Without Walker these movies will not make the same money.

Really tough to say what will happen here. If Walker would've died from a skydiving incident or something as simple as a heart attack, it would be "easier" for the producers to move on with the franchise.

However, given the way Paul's life ended, it will be extremely difficult to make more high-speed, dangerous car racing movies which centered around him and Vin Diesel.

I highly doubt these movies continue, unfortunately. What may happen is a spinoff that would move away from being car-centric and become more of an action movie. They were heading that direction anyway the past couple of films.

The producers have their work cut out for them as the cars are just as much characters of these movies as Paul (RIP) and Vin.

I knew it!
The exotic sports car in which Paul Walker violently died, crashed as a result of mechanical failure -- very possibly a steering fluid leak ... this according to sources closely tied to the auto shop where the vehicle was stored and maintained.

Sources connected to Always Evolving -- the shop co-owned by Walker and the Porsche driver Roger Rodas -- tell TMZ they saw evidence of a fluid burst and subsequent fluid trail before the skid marks at the accident scene.

The AE sources point to the fact there is a noticeable absence of skid marks until just before the point of impact. They say if Roger had lost control the skid marks would show swerving, but instead the marks were in a straight line. They feel this cements the theory the driver didn't have steering control.

Also suspicious -- the fire spreading so quickly in the front of the car. The sources say flames would be expected in the rear where the engine is ... but fire in the front reinforces their theory of a fluid leak of some sort.

We're told the $500,000 Carrera GT was NOT modified and was driven rarely so they believe any failure must be a factory defect.

As one source put it ... "Roger was a world class driver" -- and while he might have been speeding (as cops have said) ... the notion he just lost control is preposterous.

Instead of killing off Brian maybe they can just retire him,At the end of the film a double could be used along with stock footage explaining that Brian retired to settle down with Mia and the baby

I'm hoping that they filmed all of the necessary scenes with Brian and Mia so that they don't have to kill off the character in the series. Then, in Fast 8, they can just say something about Brian and Mia being together raising a family somewhere and we can just follow Dom, Hobbs and whoever else.

They won't kill his character, that's terrible taste.

I don't think The Rock carried the last 2 films at all, he was a contributor to reinvigorating the series, but not carried.
I believe most of the film was done and they were on their way to Abu Dhabi to do reshoots(major ones I believe), so I'm not sure how it's gonna be handled? Maybe CGI techniques w/camera trickery, its been done before in movies.
Whatever; they do I hope it's done right to the movie and to Paul, I don't want to see some cheesy plot/story change.

R.I.P Paul Walker

They gonna have to use CGI. Hopefully just have his character retire rather than die.

CGI for what Walker's face onto a double?,I guess they can do that like for Young Arnold's Terminator in Salvation or just use a double and stock footage like for Brandon Lee to complete The Crow

Problem is if its close ups or dialogue. But they did the same for Marlon Brando in Superman Returns. The only thing is they would have to really pull this one off or it could really break the scenes. Also they would need to capture from an audio library, Paul's voice and sentences.

Personally I doubt they will go to these lengths. Very likely they will either rewrite it and the movie will really suffer (besides us already losing Paul). Or they will cancel it. I did read the movie was postponed indefinitely.
