FF 2 Rate and Review Thread

In both showings, people kept chuckling when Jessica would come on screen. I'm guessing it was because each time her hair, makeup, and dress-style looked different each time she came on screen. The character had many looks in this film, lol. :p

Everyone knows I'm a huge Thing fan. That was my biggest problem with the film. The Thing had 1 action scene. More Thing, more Doom, not as Victor, but as Doom.

Yeah, Ben had little to do this time, but he was the main focus of the first film, so I guess the scales balance.

saw it, loved it, i think they hit the family aspect of the F4 perfectly...the humor was perfect, just enough to keep it entertaining. the action was paced perfectly, the only thing i disliked was not enough of Doom, he was more Doom in this one than the first and they are getting closer to getting him right..the new suit was amazing...I couldn't be happier with this movie...the only thing that ruined it for me was the loud mouth know it all who set directly behind me explaining every little thing to his girlfriend and complaining about every little deviation...
of the characters from the comics
I give it a 8.5/10 i may have to up that after i see it again...
BTW, did anyone else notice the mechanical thingies sticking out of the cloud as it neared the planet?

I loved this one way more than the second one. Galactus was a dissapointment though, although I swear if you look carefully in all that fire it looks like the helmet. I thought Doom was amazing but the fact that the mask wasn't burnt on him annoyed me. Surfer was amazing although I was confused because I thought he was supposed to look like a human when he wasn't cosmic powered up, but he apparently looks grey?

Also, they underused Julian McMahons talent. They should have introduced the team-up of Doom and the FF quarter into the movie and had him turn half way through. They first 2 acts were too long and the 3rd was too short. They should have had the first 70 minutes end around 50 minutes then focus the last 45 minutes ion a huge climax. But i really would have preferred keep the first 70 minutes as is. Then add 20 minutes of Doom wreaking havoc on the world as FF preferred for an ultimate showdown and a 20 minute climax, not just 10 minutes. This would have put the movie at 110 minutes which would have been a few minutes longer than first one. Doom should have been the world threat he has been for decades in comics, especially in Cosmic form. Hopefully an extended dvd or ::praying:: blu-ray will sort this all out!!

Hi,

I just saw FF2.

It was better than the first one. I thought the first FF was silly and only slightly better than comicbook movies like Electra.

FF2 was an improvement, but I prefer serious comic book movies ala Batman Begins and character-driven ones like Spiderman trilogy. The character development in both FF movies feels tacted on, and not the driving force of the story.

Any ways, here are just some random thoughts...

I didn't like how the Silver Surfer healed everything. What was the point of SS healing all of Doom's scarring? So now Doom is NOT made out of metal? I'm confused. Did Tim Story totally change Doom in this sequel? The guy slowly changed into metal man in FF1, Silver Surfer shoots him, he's healed, and now he's not a metal man anymore. Ah, whatever....!!

Anyhow, I also thought the SS looked cooler in the torture scenes (when he was an actor in a body suit) than when he was full CGI.

And honestly, I dont understand why we didn't get to see the comic book look of Galactus. I mean, at the very LEAST, Silver Surfer should have shown us Galactus' true form when he flew into the giant world-eating cloud. If Tim Story thought Galactus' look just wouldn't work on film, I still don't understand why we couldn't see him inside the cloud. So in FF2, Galactus being referred to as a "he" seems more superstitious or metaphorical....than actually being grounded in truth...cause it was really just a big butt cloud....not a "he".

And once again, I've said this before, but I think Jessica Alba looks completely ******ed as Sue Storm. She's sooooo TAN and her blonde hair looks ridiculous. Come on. Bryan Singer didn't give the X-Men their traditional comic book costumes cause he knew on film they would look laughable, so if they picked Jessica Alba to play this role, couldn't they NOT bleach her hair, cause it really looks dumb on her.

besides that the movie was enjoyable.

It was. I saw it 2 times. The 1st rime i thought I saw his head. The 2nd time, I was paying particular attention to that part, and you could see the head, with the hockey sticks as I call them comming out the sides. It was distorted, but you could tell it was him. Yes The "G" Man was in the cloud.

yea, you can def. see his head in the flames and cloud...

Just made it from a screening, it's definitely better than the first:up: The film left me wanting more (which is a good thing), it was way too short. Doom should have been left out altogether. He was neither menacing nor interesting. I was impressed with the whole "storm cloud," it looked really awesome. Silver Surfer was the best thing about the film imo...him and Johnny of course:heart:

7.5/10 Above Average

What did you think of the scene with Sue and Johnny before the wedding?

This movie was actually better than what I expected, Galactus was in that cloud he clearly stared us all down.

The Surfer effects were great, but the voice dubbing was awful at certain points, to me it was most noticable when the the surfer was talking to Sue at the Ice Station, the sound mastering was off causing all of Fishborne's lines to come with some unwanted whitenoise that faded as soon as his line were over.

I loved that scene :-) sue was so much better in this flix she didn't come off as just griping all the time, the writing for her part was better, the big hug was touching and the refrence to their father got to me also.

Just got back from the movie. It was ok, and better than the first one, but it not that great of the move. I liked the action, but they really missed up on Galactus. Yeah the effects were great, but I mean com on, what's so hard about showing Galactus, not some big comsic cloud. That was a letdown and very dissapointing.

Just saw the movie, and it was actually better than I expected it to be. I'd say it was a bit better than the first one. The 92 minute runtime wasn't too bothering, the movie actually ran pretty smoothly. The special effects were pretty good, especially for the Surfer, Johhny, and Doom. Cloud-actus was actually cooler looking than I expected, and I think I might have seen the outline of his face in there. The action was exciting, though the sequences could have been a little longer. Most notibly, the ones involving Cosmic Doom needed some extending.

One of my problems with the movie was that they could have fleshed out Doom's storlyine a bit more. I didn't fully understand what he had in mind when he had the Surfer's powers. I guess it involved taking over the world or some other cliche evil scheme, but they could have found a way to explain it better. Also, Alicia's ethical speaches started to get annoying, and Reed's dance scene was uneeded to say the least.

Overall I'd give it about a 6.5/10.

All right.

Just got back from FF: ROTSS.

Crazy movie...wish they had lightened it up a bit during that stint near the Great Wall of China. Contrary to the majority opinion, I rather liked Dr. Doom in this picture. He was crazy, psychotic, and well...he was Dr. Doom. What more can a person ask for? Julian McMahon did a pretty good acting job IMO. And this movie was definitely lightyears ahead of the first one, although it could have used a bit of fleshing out. Galactus...Gashmactus...we'll probably see him in the third, and even if we don't, it didn't really affect my enjoyment of the film since I didn't go in there really expecting a giant purple god in the first place. Pretty funny in some parts...probably should have been more violent. The General's death, while surprisingly graphic, was totally unrealistic and very very brief...which is probably why it got past with a PG rating. Great mythos, great story, great acting...All in all, this movie was fantastic. Let's just hope FF3 keeps it up...with a longer running time and a PG-13 rating of course.

Also...for those complaining about Doom's screentime, this movie is entitled "Rise of the SILVER SURFER", not "The Return of Von Doom". So, naturally, Dr. Doom was going to be a supporting villain. He'll probably be all out with Galactus in the third film.

Absolutely horrible. I've never seen so many cliches in one movie. You have the cocky guy getting told off by the girl and suddenly having an epiphany, the reluctant heroes leaving and deciding to stay at the end, the hardened military brass getting told off by the nerdy hero...even the following line "I'm so hot for you", who didn't see that coming a mile away? God, it was just so corny. The jokes were juvenile at best. Thing burps, Johnny makes an innuendo! Haha, my third grade class would love this. There were plot holes so numerous I don't know where to begin...and the deus ex machina at the end, I get that the Surfer has healing powers...but at least foreshadow it a little bit. Plus his entire nuking Galactus...if he could do that from the beginning, why kill billions of people if it was really that simple to stop Galactus?

Just an all around bad movie. The fanboy in me wanted to like it...my brain simply could not.

I thought it was one of the best scenes in the entire film! I loved how Sue and Johnny's brother/sister relationship was further developed. It was pretty convincing imo. I was so proud of Chris' acting skills:D:up: And I loved Alba even more in this one:heart:

btw: hey Albafan!:)

Kmack and Kel on the same thread, just like old times:heart::cwink:

I can't see you were supporting Fantastic Four that much.

I was VERY disappointed in this movie.... I actually consider the first one to be better than this one was. The film was mainly about Johnny's struggles (cockiness, being alone) and also the Silver Silver. I am cool with the SS thing, I mean come on, he IS in the title. I like SS alot actually, more than I thought that I would. I did like Johnny as well though, he is hot you know! :D

Reed dancing....um.... yea.... kinda cheesy! Very S3, Dark Peter..... just saw it to be added fluff. Sue.... she is my fave, however, she really lacked alot in this movie. I was looking forward to her kicking ass and using her powers to the max. Sadly, that did not happen. Was very disappointed in what they did, and did not use her for in this movie. And the hair and eyes.... they looked horrible onscreen! They really should have had her dye her hair again and skipped the whole blue eyes thing. Or at least tried to make them look for real God's sake!

I have to say that I think Galactus was the coolest part of this movie. I know alot of people were not pleased with the whole cloud thing... but there is more to that than some thought. It was pretty cool.

And Doom .... again, very disappointed. He was easily beaten, did not show much of his own powers and was easily kicked out of the movie.... we have no idea what might become of him. That may be what they wanted, but they could have gone about it differently.

And the whole speech they all make at the end about being a team and all that .... will not even touch on that. Simply put .... after school special much?

The movie left me wanting more, ALOT more! It takes ALOT for me to be disappointed in a movie but this one did just that. Thank god that this was not the only movie I am looking forward to this summer.... 747 cannot come fast enough! :D

Matt, weren't you the one so confident that Pirates was gonna win over Spider-Man 3 because you compared it to last year with Superman Returns?

Ha ha ha ha ha...

No, but seriously, who cared? It wasn't meant to be some dramatic character movie like Spider-Man 2 (which was quite boring, probably the worst of the three Spideys IMO).

It was meant to be fun, but it seems like your analytical brain couldn't comprehend the idea.
