I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree on the Galactus bit. You think the tease was good, I think it was stupid; fair enough.
Now the Surfer...
Stealing his powers from him isn't a bad idea, but it's the way they did it. It was too easy; this is the freakin' Silver Surfer for crying out loud.

. It's even worse in the comic. The thing is this made the most sense. Removing him from his power source as opposed to a giant vacume that sucked the power out of him. It presents something tangible. A goal. Knock the Surfer off of this and make him powerless. Get Doom to lose control of this and we can defeat him. I'd have liked to see them approach Doom with the full power of the Surfer and no way of stopping him.
This is just a small change for me. Surfer is still just as powerful as ever. He can still call his board to him if he loses it (apparantly). He's still the Silver Surfer. He was not spouting out corny dialogue or playing Marco Polo with Johnny Storm (and even then I liked Doom anyway but that's something else entirely).
