Iron Man 2 First look at Whiplash!

Difference being that the first official Joker pic bore very little resemblance to the final design in the film. The complaining would have no doubt sustained, had Nolan kept that horrid make-up design in.

I don't think that will be the case here. What we see is what we'll get. And I'm not a follower of the character, but does he use Stark's tech in the comics too? I feel this is repeating the first villain, regardless of comic book accuracy.

Huh? It looks exactly the same as what we eventually got to me:

kinda disappointed i kinda expected a bad @$$ looking suit but maybe they will add some Cgi to it or it is just a prototype.

I was one of the biggest detractors against that pic, and trust me, I did not just magically grow to like it. The above looks like Heath after a really bad night out. TDK Joker has no immediate resemblance to the actor. The way the lipstick is applied and the severity of the scarrings, are much more appealing in the film.

Yeah, I'm hoping it's just a prototype as well. As is, it looks too bare-bones to be of any significance.

In the comics he doesn't use Stark's tech from what I can remember of his first appereance.

I like the look, Whiplash in the comics was just a guy with a typical villain costume and a cheesy S&M mask(some versions he even had a ponytail).

I'm sure by the third act he'll have a better suit, most likely the Crimson Dynamo armor.

Looks lame as hell to me.

And before you call me a troll, just remember that I post here often and am not looking to start something. I just honestly think it looks ridiculous.

What were you expecting or wanting Gamma?

It definitely looks like he was pretending to be a pit crew member and sprung out by surprise. He seems to be wearing a pit crew suit and the helmet he had on while disguised is laying behind him.

Here's my bet:

Ivan Vanko is an inventor. He's jailed because he sells weapons at the Black Market and blames Tony Stark, who uncovered him as Iron Man. In prison, he develops the whips and, after escaping, adquires an copy of Stark's reactor at Black Market (Hammer has been selling them) and use it to energize the whips, attacking Stark as he's attending to the Grand Pix. Stark becomes Iron Man and fights Whiplash, eventually beating him.

Whiplash escapes, and is eventually found by Hammer, who gives him the technology and the money to build a better armor and get his revenge (Distracting Iron Man from Hammer's conspiracy in process). Vanko develops an better armor and attacks Iron Man again, this time, beating him, but not killing him.

In the ending, they have one final scuffle as Iron Man and War Machine battle Hammer, Whiplash and Black Widown. Whiplash dies/goes to prison.

THe last thing we need is an X-Men Origins rehash... no extracting revenge by getting some tech upgrades for a while.

Actually, looking at the hi-res picture, there's a guy on the very right who looks like a pit crew member in what looks like the same orange jumpsuit. And with the helmet laying on the ground behind him, it looks like this may be a surprise ambush by Whiplash

That's definately what I think is going on.

I dig it. The man looks like he's saying "Bring it on".

It looks gaudy. I can see what they're going for and it's definitely better than his comic counterpart's suit, but...it's aging Mickey Rourke with tats and piecemeal Iron Man bits no matter how I look at it.

Kinda underwhelming, don't you think? I hope that this is kinda like the "Mark1" version of the Whiplash suit...I can't picture him going toe-to-toe with Iron Man looking like that.

But obviously there's going to be an action/fight scene that takes place on a race car track. At least that sounds pretty cool. There might be plenty of amazing destruction.

And I guess the story borrows some elements form the Armor/Stark wars. If Rourke's character is indeed using stolen Iron Man technology.

As much faith as I have in Jon Favreau, this sucks. I hope its a prototype that evolves into the CD suit.

Seriously. It's like Rourke got blasted out of that meth lab in Spun straight into this movie with whatever stuck to him.

He looks a bit ridiculous but it's alright. It's starting to grow on me the more I look at it. Even if he does look like ass, I'm sure he'll still be portrayed properly.

It's not that bad to me, but then again I don't know much about Whiplash or Crimson Dynamo so I really didn't know what to expect; but from look at the pic of Whiplash and Rourke, I think it looks somewhat similar but from what others have said maybe this is just a prototype that he uses at first...at least the tats look cool.

But I think anyone would agree with me when I say; now that we've gotten that out of the way, bring on Black Widow!

TROLL!

Honestly, my first reaction was similar until I looked at it for a while. It has a Gladiator meats Iron Man feel. Whatever the context, I'm sure it'll fit perfectly. I think it would be smart if we fans dial down our over-inflated expectations and preconceived notions a bit.

I don't think there's need to dial down our expectations. It's obviously an early action scene and Rourke's character is probably fresh out of jail. He's there to assassinate Stark or someone else. His "suit" had to be light-weight because he had to conceal it while posing as a pit crew member. I'm sure it all comes together in the actual movie.

Am I the only one who really likes it?

I really hate villains that have the same powers as the hero. That's why I disliked Iron Monger so much in the first one. I think it's a genuinely boring concept and one of the reasons I thought Iron Man wouldn't work as a franchise is because a huge portion of his viable rogues gallery wear armour suits just like his.

It looks like he still has some sort of mechanical contraption on his upper body (a highly doubt none of it serves a purpose). If you ask me, he doesn't need armour. It makes the movie all the more interesting. That being said, I have practically no doubt that Favreau will cave and put him in an armoured suit by the "final battle".

Notice that Whiplash is still wearing prison clothes in this picture.

Also take into account he will be working for Justin Hammer, Tony's rival. Would a suit as primitive as this be all Hammer is capable of?

This isn't the final suit.
