Antman was a solo hero too even before avengers been formed in the original line-up consisting him, wasp, hulk, thor and iron man.
If fox can't introduce gambit during the first x-men, they should have done it in X2 but they don't. This gambit movie was idea of LSD impulsiveness

I didn't say he wasn't solo first, but he is known more for his team comic than solo adventures, and look what happened; they waited until the 2nd movie to have his solo movie and he's finally joining the team in the 3rd team movie.

Gambit, while better known as an X-Man member, has enough of a story between Thieves Guild and Marauders to warrant at least one solo movie prior to joining an X-Movie. The first X-Movie didn't introduce staple members like Angel, Nightcrawler, Beast, Psylocke, Colossus, and Shadowcat, as well as Gambit.

This Gambit movie is the farthest thing from impulsive. If Fox made a Gambit solo movie after X1 like LSD wanted to, then yes, it would have been impulsive, but they didn't. They didn't see him fitting in Apocalypse during the script stage, they didn't feel he fit in Deadpool, and I'm sure they don't feel like introducing him in Wolverine 3 works for them either.

I think Gambit starting as an outsider makes way more sense. The problem with the character is the overlap with Wolverine. In the comics, the two were spaced out so that Wolverine was more domesticated by the time Gambit appeared. Compare this to the 90s cartoon. There, they paid a lot of lip service to the idea of Gambit being a mercenary, but he just seemed to be an established member. That other half of Gambit just wasn't there. I felt if they introduced Gambit in the very first X-Men movie, we'd have the same problem.

there's an ant-man movie?

To me, it makes sense to have those characters who don't fit neither the superhero nor the villain mold 100%. There are grays in between sometimes. Gambit's just like that. Emma Frost would've been good too.

Antman, who's better known for being one of the original and team starting Avengers, did just fine in a solo outing prior to a team movie. There's no reason Gambit can't have the same success.

Scott Lang didn't join the Avengers until 2003, nearly 25 years after his debut.

See as a DC fan I've been trained from their frustrating inaction to like impulsive moves. But I agree with you, I don't think it would be a bad idea to put this film off and just introduce the character in an X-Men film first. If that means losing Tatum then so be it.
Yeah it's harder to expand when your characters aren't solo characters.

I'm thinking Fox might scrap this altogether. They should put their efforts somewhere else IMO.

Yeah the difference is that Marvel has become such a power house studio at this point that their films will make money. Fox is not Marvel. They don't have such luxury. And also the film was centered around Lang, who's not a founding member of the Avengers.

I sorta get where Majik and others are coming from with their "any comic book film can be a hit under the right conditions" thoughts. In theory I agree with that sentiment, I just don't know if Gambit will have those things going for it to make it a hit, especially with 150+mil budget.

All I'm saying is that some are easier than others. And let's be honest, Ant-Man was a gamble in its own right.

I am not in any way suggesting that Gambit is destined for failure.

Eh I thought the Marvel brand would prop Ant-Man up and it did. Personally I thought it was going to hit 200 mil here in the states so I over predicted it. Gambit doesn't have the Marvel brand propping it up.

Surely you understand the multitude of ways in which Ant-man, or any movie made by Marvel from here on out, is not comparable to a Gambit film at all.

To the General Audience, who were surprised that they were rebooting Fantastic Four instead of going with the old cast, just seeing Marvel show up in a trailer will do wonders. Of course when they talk to somebody who knows about the difference between Fox-Marvel and Marvel Studios they'll probably understand.

Late to the party it gutted Wyatt has left, just hope they finds good replacement like they did for DOFP and DOTPOFA.

Well, she took down Magneto in X1, but she is right.

I haven't seen the Rogue cut of DOFP. Does she get to do anything fun?

Rogue in Singerverse will always be a whiny weak victim. I'd rather not see the character again than see more of that.

I have no issues with people who do but I just don't like Singer's version of Rogue or Storm.

I feel Paquin and Marsden deserve one last chance before we move on. They're in their prime, great actors and have been with the franchise from the very beginning (15+ years now) despite its ups and downs. It's only fair they get the roles X2 was building up to. There's still Wolverine or even an X5 !!

We all knew she wasn't going to be in it anyways, this movie being speculated to take place in the 80s or 90s. What could be cool, though, is if the Marauders are hired by Sinister to rob from the Assassin's Guild sparking the war...

I didn't think she was going to be in the film either. I don't get how her not being in it is news.
