Youtubes post sounds like the early days of Fant4stic all over again.
Exactly.Youtubes post sounds like the early days of Fant4stic all over again.
Exactly.
I was one of those, "there is nothing going on with Fantastic Four and you guys are nothing but a bunch of Marvel Zombies" people, until I gained some commonsense in November/December. A lot of people knew it was a cluster**** from the beginning, SPIDEY was late to the party.
No I'm not writing the film off yet but that Fantastic Four song and dance damn well won't fly this time Fox fanboys. If I start hearing more and more crap about this production then I will not hesitate to discuss and assume that the film will be another Fantastic Four. Meaning a universally reviled film. And that has nothing to do with the studio, I'll do that with any film with horrible behind the scenes problems no matter which studio it comes from.
The difference between Gambit and Fantastic Four is that we had a lot more information to go on with Fantastic Four. We had statements from the likes of Kinberg, Trank, and the actors early on that clearly showed they had absolutely no idea what they were doing.
With Gambit, these production problems are cause for concern to be sure so we should be wary, but I think it is too early to completely dismiss the film like with Fantastic Four. I am still hopeful at this point that this will be more Ant-Man (which fans were also rightfully concerned about, showing that this isn't a Fox vs. Marvel issue) than Fantastic Four.
There hasn't been that much backstage trouble and keep in mind, all this "trouble" is pre-production. What you guys are amounting is the director leaving, Channing having trouble negotiating on a contract and the budget. To justify that, you all say that the movie was only made because of an interview Channing did. No, the interview Channing did gave Donner an excuse to make a film she had been wanting to do since X3 and would have done had Origins turned out well.
The budget isn't an issue. There are plenty of films out there with higher budgets than Gambit and less known stars that make more money. Take the budget out of the equation and you have two problems: Channing threatening to leave and Rupert Wyatt leaving. Of those, you can argue that Channing leaving isn't even an issue because for all we know he might not have even fully left the project because he negotiated a deal to star in the film, he was already slated to produce. Then there's Rupert Wyatt leaving, the only big issue and movies can still turn out good if the director leaves pre-production: Edgar Wright.
A big reason (not the only reason) you guys are making a fuss is because Fox is the studio funneling money into the film and not Disney. A lot of these reasons are valid, but I will say that it is a bit premature and maybe we should all wait before casting high judgements.

I'd have a lot more confidence in the project if the film had an Deadpool sized budget, which likely is less than half of the $150M committed to the Tatum flick. Even if a director is found and everything is smooth sailing from here on in, "Gambit" is going to struggle to earn back its investment.

Oh really.plenty are coming and saying Gambit is doomed despite fact X-Men films have plenty of history of directors leaving including the most successful
X-Men film-Days of Future Past.
quite a few have nothing good to say about Fox and X-Men films.Just as I would never claim to have in politics anything good to say about Hilary Clinton or
Donald Trump those I put on my ignore list don't have anything good to say
about X-Men films.
I Imedetly knew when i heard news of Wyatt leaving on twitter there would be pile on Gambit.
Is the whole anti-Fox over Fant4stic b****ing posts done yet?![]()
I think so. But the "Stop picking on the poor widdle multi-billion dollar media conglomerate!" posts are still showing signs of life.
There's no "a lot" of it.
The budget is not astronomical, it's a basic superhero movie budget.
Tatum did not almost leave production; That's an overreaction to an unsubstantiated rumor.
The director walked because timing of filming changed. It happens all the time.
I defended Fant4stic from ridiculous complaints. I'd say I stopped about halfway through its production if not sooner from defending it. I do think there were good things in the movie, but yes, it's a colossal failure in many respects.

This is the type of troll comment that has given certain Fox fans a toxic reputation.
We are X-Men fans merely having a legitimate discussion and here we have someone who just wants to insult people and start a fight.
