I hope they scrap the solo film and put him in X-force.

I'm in the I hope it gets scrapped crowd. I love Gambit...but as part of a team...

I want it to be made. I know we want him in a group ensemble. I do too. But if it's a chance to give the character time and development and it's done good then why not? They should even use it as a way of developing maybe one or two other characters that need it and then join him to a team.

Mystique and Magneto's over-exposure were high on many people's complaints list as far as I could see.

Who the critics? Casual audience? Can't say I have read many and those who did mention it are mostly hardcores who see the movie anyway.

Tbh the more films in this universe they make the better, but it's probably best they ain't all team movies, let alone just X-men or X-Force.

Because Gambit is way more interesting when he interacts with the X-men. Different characters bring out different sides of him. Storm, Rogue (not anna paquin), Wolverine, Charles etc.

That could work in a solo also if you have interesting supporting characters.

What's to say we would even get that in a team movie anyway?

Tbh its actually pretty sad when these characters are not interesting unless they play off others, thats pretty much when you have to question if we are surprised X-Men is the underdog

Hard to speculate on the casual audience as they're too casual to leave feedback, but yes, many critics and posters have complained about Mystique and Magneto. The former gets the most flack, either because people are bored of Lawrence's portrayal or the unwanted focus on the character. I've never heard a bad word about Fassbender, but people are tired of Magneto and his side-switching antics too.

Are we seriously talking about that no one complained about Magneto and Mystique in this movie? Magneto who was the only important horseman and his never ending going back/forth with Xavier and Mystique who was in human form in majority of the film, not to mention JLaw's enthusiasm to the role? I guess someone liked those.

Tbh I been reading alot of random twitter responses since the films release and while i noticed a fair amount who say The films are repetitive as they all feel the same I don't think they are complaining that they finally want magneto out the picture as you could say the same for the people who moaned about wolverine stealing the spot light which would make you think people were getting sick of wolverine... But then I noticed a fair amount are butt hurt he wasn't in it longer then 5 minutes, but then there are also the those unhappy he was in the film at all to steal any spotlight.

Lawrence/mystique are defo not as disliked as some may think, infact She may have a lot more loyal support then what some of the other X-men characters do, I mean I seen various polls made on Twitter about favorite characters and there are a lot of those still voting mystique.

Critics are critics for a reason even though the audience rating is obviously higher but you can also expect the haters to be much louder with their opinions anyway.

Sure thing pal. You've posted in the Mystique thread, so I'm sure you've seen what people think there, and it's pretty much the same everywhere else.

You would be surprised tbh, i mean on twitter the biggest positive response i seen for this movie is quicksilver, even the people who say they didn't like the movie said quicksilver was the only good thing about it, and the teenchoice awards thing on twitter he has over a million retweets for #ChoiceMovieSceneStealer! while wolverine has like 400 for #ChoiceMovieHissyFit.

Now on here there isn't much talk of quicksilver and its often forgotten he would be a big part of any future X-Men movies as the ending pretty much says he is an X-Men now and i think people probably forget this because they want to talk about everyone else who they feel deserved the attention and they feel quicksilver shouldn't be the most applauded because thats not who is he in the comics, but obvious it just means anyone who complains about quicksilver being an X-Man or even getting any spotlight is basically just being a cry baby who wants the character whose been the best received, makes the film look good and who people want to see more of to be lesser in the picture so their individual favoured character can get loved by the audience.

So yeah what is said on here is not seen by everyone the same way.

I've seen Quicksilver praised a lot, about as much as I've seen Mystique trashed.

I remember when they had those emojis online, jeans and cyclops had been retweeted like 400 times, mystique about 800 times.

People are so dramatic online unfortunately, there has been a few comments about how X-Men: Apocalypse is the worst movie they have ever seen... and i instantly think of this guy.

I only watched few YouTube reviews for Apocalypse, but Collider (3 people), comicbookgirl19, Behind the Scenes all had negative response towards Jennifer's portrayal of Mystique.

So about the screenplay of Gambit, Chris Claremont made the treatment and Zetumer made an apparently really good screenplay. Since that screenplay necessitated a massive budget, it's probably good that Reid Carolin is rewriting so it can probably have a more Deadpool sized budget. The main problem people have with this movie is that they're making a Gambit film without Gambit even being in the X-Men first, it's like the problem people have with Roman Reigns - they pushed him to the top without him going through mid-tier titles. It's why for the first time since Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose is a face that people cheer. Off topic, sure but the point is there. If Channing wants this movie made and wants people to want it as well, he better cameo is the next X-Men and steal the show.

Otherwise they're going to have people not *****ing, but just wondering why this movie was made beyond this being his and Donner's passion project. All that aside, I do hope the film gets made and I hope Liman directs an amazing project.

What if you did the opposite? Have a popular X-man cameo in Gambit?

You've got Stewart, Jackman, Berry. And everyone's waiting to see Paquin's character finally come to life too. Something brief couldn't hurt. I can picture Wolverine and Rogue in cowboy.

I certainly think that could work, but the cameos would have to fit into the story. They couldn't just throw them in there to say, "Hey, we exist too!" Say this movie is set in the 80s, I wouldn't mind seeing Angel show up assuming he didn't actually die. Or if it's set in modern times, maybe seeing some of the more background mutants from the films make an appearance. Somebody big like Patrick Stewart might not make much sense but Anna Paquin as Rogue could probably work.
