So if they film this in spring of 2017 so I guess, its not coming out of 2017 anymore. Oh well. I really hope Doug Liman delivers if he is still directing!

It's possible to get it out November or December 2017, but my best guess is February 2018.

Feb 2018 isn't exactly free at the moment. Because you have 50 Shades and Predator on the 9th. Black Panther on the 16th. And then Pacific Rim on the 23rd.

April 2018 looks fairly open at the moment. Depending on how Wolverine does, maybe March 2 2018.

And Nov and Dec 2017 is just a bad place to put it. Nov already has superhero overload. And you have to avoid Dec, because you don't go against Episode VIII.

March would make sense. Pacific Rim isn't a huge deal, to be honest, but I wouldn't recommend placing them on the same day. Same with Predator (obviously, 50 Shades is fine since it's a completely different target audience).

March straddles that line between underrated gem and early blockbuster. It could fit the same way Batman v. Superman fit, putting it either March 30 or March 2.

If its good, it could open against 50 More Shades, I mean Kingsman opened against the first movie and voila, it was still a box-office success.

Kingsman also didn't have a Marvel movie opening the next weekend. I also have worries about Feb being able to sustain that number of big movies. Yes, Deadpool did great there, and Kingsman and 50 Shades didn't cannibalize each other. Unless they've managed to cut Gambit's budget down to Deadpool levels, I wouldn't risk it.

Yes its possible to get it out at the end of the year but still, wouldn't it feel a bit rushed for the post-prod? And if they have a 100 million plus budget, this would need a good amount of time in post-prod specifically with visual effects.

Agreed.

The whole January-February thing is that it's typically the studios' dumping grounds, so with such low standards and competition, it's the most lucrative to release potential box office juggernauts.

January is still a dumping ground, but I'm not sure February is anymore. That being said, looking at the release schedule, I do think early March makes sense.

Fox has got the following release dates for Marvel adaptations:

October 6th, 2017
March 2nd, 2018
June 29th, 2018

I honestly don't think any movie will be ready for an October 2017 release (unless that was a new release date for Wolverine 3, and we didn't find out about it not making the March 2017 release date).

Kinberg has said that the next two movies going into production are going to be Deadpool 2 and Gambit, early next year. So my best guess is that the Deadpool sequel is coming in March 2018, and Gambit later that year, in June.

Unless: They're much further than we think on Josh Boone's New Mutants, and they'll start filming in late 2016 / early 2017.

Honestly, I would be more likely to put Deadpool in the summer than Gambit.

Deadpool in October, Gambit in March would make a lot of sense with New Mutants in June.

Out of those 3, Deadpool is the only one guaranteed to do well in summer. New Mutants, likely not, it would probably struggle especially if we consider how First Class/Apocalypse performed (well in North America).

there won't be an october 2017 film.if Deadpool sequel gets the june 2018 slot question is can gambit or new mutants get before the camers in time to met the march 2018 slot.

Is anyone else super-interested in how they handle the Guild and all of its traditions and lore? I am especially interested in how Jean-Luc Lebeau is portrayed in this movie. Since I'm starved for Gambit in the comics, I read a lot of fanfiction. I've seen him as everything from a loving and doting father figure to a self-serving jerk who doesn't care about Remy at all. Should be interesting either way.

I still say that if Gambit is to be introduced with this younger cast, just have him working for Mr. Sinister, something akin to their relationship during the Mutant Massacre. But I don't have that much faith in Kinberg to do something like that.

Really, this weird comparasion between Gambit and Deadpool must stop.
They weren't/aren't in the same situation.

The one (Deadpool) was a project nobody cared much about. And after fans whining about a movie, they decided to give him one. With a huge lower budget and some B-movie cast.
The other one (Gambit) is a project the studio and producers care much about. And are willing to spend 154 million on it. With a huge cast.
The problem is that the studio can't even make them team movies worth interesting for the GA. And that's what's making them re-considering that huge budget.

Really the biggest question is whats holding this movie back? script? tatum?

Seeing the problems they had with F4 i wouldn't put it past FOX being the issue.

Love gambit, I really do

But the only reason it had somewhat of a chance was because Tatum is a fan of the character. That's it.

who knows.this film only exsists because tatum wants to play Gambit.

My suspecion is it may be budget and getting a script that they like that can be
done for what fox is willing to spend.

very doudtful the rumored 150 million budget still exsists anymore.

I really don't think this film needs to exist and considering how things are proceeding, I don't have much faith

Eh, not all that miffed by Liman leaving. He would've been great to have, but it's Fox's fault for not providing rewrites sooner or having a director that was more invested in the project like Tim Miller. But at the same time, if the script sucks, doesn't matter how big of name they'll have directing it, it'll suck anyways. Mutual parting of ways seems right.

If they make it cool, if not, they can easily throw him into another film. No biggy. January start date does seem way sketch now though, since they'd probably doing pre-viz and stuff right now.
