Sequels "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum? - Part 2

Really the biggest question is whats holding this movie back? script? tatum?

Seeing the problems they had with F4 i wouldn't put it past FOX being the issue.

The budget. Especially after how Apocalypse performed, I think Fox is going to be a bit more gunshy with the budgets.

If it happens, it happens. We will see. But, everything points to it being in development hell.

Oh well, there is still New Mutants, Xmen, Deadpool, Xforce and other potential characters or teams. They are not really short of options. Maybe Gambit can be an X-force member.

I doubt it is because of apocalypse as it was delayed way before apocalypse was even released, remember it was meant to be out October so it should have been filming ages ago.

As for budgets well fox cut the F4 budget just before filming so 2 action scenes had to be taken out the script, they also apparently cut abit of the budget to deadpool also I hear.

So... What is Joe Cornish currently doing?

Shame to lose Liman as he is a damn good director. This will be competing with The Crow reboot for most cancellations soon.

Well this sucks! Be nice for this project to have good news for once.

Meh, just put a fork in it. It only has Tatum in its corner, and he's not even a popular choice for the role.

David Poland of Movie City News says that Liman is off because Snider and say the two have history from their time at Universal on The Bourne Identity. If so, hope Stacey Snider and Chan can find a good replacement. (Or makes a few more X-Men related moves)

I'm not at all sad about this news. They should cancel the movie. Gambit is one of my favorite fictional characters ever but this movie had disaster written all over it from the start. And i pray to god I don't have to see Tatum's take on Gambit ever. That overrated actor doesn't look anything like him. If Fox has half a brain, (which sadly they have proven they don't) they will stick him in a team movie and get another actor for the role.

They should just stick him in the next team movie at this point and introduce him there. Then spin off if the he proves popular.

This is me. I'd rather wait and get a better actor or have Gambit on a team. :)

whats the problem with tatum is incredibly passionate about this role from trying to get the accent completely right and this is essentially his deadpool and he has improved alot over the past several years

tatum has wanted to play this role as far back as 2009

that wasnt a bad thing. I liked Taylor Kitsch as Gambit and he was one of the only two good thing about that film

Yeah, I never thought he'd be a great fit, but there's no denying his passion. It actually ended up winning me over. I'd love to give him a chance because I think he would at least genuinely try.

Here's hoping, right? Maybe there's another Magic Mike trilogy in the works.

Even though I am a huge Gambit fan, I wouldn't be upset at all if this movie gets scrapped. I've never been sold on Channing Tatum as Gambit. I understand that he apparently loves the character, but that doesn't mean he can play him convincingly. I would rather have no Gambit movie than have a poorly-cast one. We'll see what happens anyway.
