I don't hate Ned, but I don't particularly like him, either.

What I do like is primarily due to archetypal conventions and not so much the specificities of the character.

What's about Ned that you do not like him? I'm not saying that everyone should like Ned, but what I see in this character is a honorable man who loves his family and doesn't like backstabbing people. He may be a bit rigid, but he is more than willing to bend his principle for the sake of his family.

Right - so what you see in the character is what the character is about. I do not disagree with this assessment, as it is a spot-on assessment of who the character is.

That does not mean I have to like him for it. Ned is an ineffectual character due to those traits, and I have no interest investing the energy, time, or thought into liking him for such. Mind you, as I wrote, I don't hate him. He exists as an avenue for the first novel and that's where I let him stay.

So are they sticking with the "Game of Thrones" title, or will Season 2 be called "Clash of Kings?"

They're definitely keeping the title and I think it's rather fitting that's the title for the series instead of A Song of Ice and Fire, I do like that one as well but GoT is more suitable title, it's the title of the first book yes but the entire span of the series covers the game being played for the Iron Throne. I think perhaps they'll use ACoK as taglines for the new season and they could name one of the episodes by that name.

Maybe the surface content of the first few books is playing the game of thrones, but the undercurrent throughout the entire series is something much more than that.

It makes sense the series will remain Game of Thrones because TV series, as a rule, do not change their names from season to season. One can assume this was a conscious choice, probably for marketing reasons - it's more accessible than A Song of Ice and Fire to the more casual crowd, the lowest common denominator, if you will.

But that doesn't somehow mean it's a more apt series title than the one the author decided and planned on.

Oh I agree, I've just formulated it wrong. I love the title for the book series as well but when I say more suitable I meant more accessible to the GA. A Song of Ice and Fire may come across as too fantasy-ish for some and Game of Thrones has a nice ring to it and it's more fitting, tv-wise.

So I just watched the first two episodes (finally). I'm hooked. I'm EXTREMELY hooked. Hands down one of the better shows on TV these days. I also went and bought the first book and was hooked on it within the first 20 pages. Always nice finding a new thing to be interested in.

Yes it is, if the tv series gets that far it would be so amazing to see it happening on-screen.

Our Lord 'O Bones Edward Dogliani. Can't wait to see this character realized.

my favorite show on hbo. i need more thrones in my life.

Oh yeah, this is good. Stannis looks different than what's described from the books but I like it nonetheless, I had hope for a beard at least but Dillane gives an intense vibe as Stannis and that shot of him walking[BLACKOUT] towards the burning statues of the seven gods on Dragonstone is great[/BLACKOUT]. Renly's look has been improved and from the glimpse I got Melisandre doesn't look bad. I'm seeing a lot of night scenes, good since they featured so little in season 1 and took out the atmospheric of some scenes that'd have even better if it was like the book. All in all great video and I can't wait for the return of the show.

Do we have a date yet for when season 2 starts?

He looks awesome. I hope he has a few more scenes than were in the book (and not ones where Loras blows him).
