ok, now that I can sit down and watch the entire season 1 back to back w/o the nuisance of waiting a week between episodes; I'm diving in to check it out. Just finished episode 1. Looks promising.

That was exactly the reason I didn't care they were changing Asha's name. Well, not per the audiobook, but that I imagined the two names, when spoken with accent, could sound similar.

I don't see one mixing them up, one character is a commoner and the other a noble. Both their locations are thousands of miles apart and just from education level alone you get a different type of dialogue and delivery from both.

Different family crests, separated by a fair distance. A character likeis not gonna be mistaken for anyone because they are thousands of miles apart for most of the story ... separated by a sea.

Alright, finished season 1. Pretty good, over all. It managed to hold my attention throughout for the most part. I think my favorite characters are the the youngest Stark girl(the tomboy) and the dwarf.

That would be Arya. IA, she was amazing. Definetly my favorite as well

Arya has been my favourite character in the books so far... Her story arc in the second book is great!

in a book, yes it works...on tv it might come off as time killing and possibly boring

You can't fit everything in the book into 10 hours of TV. Yeah, they're good chapters, but there's a lot more going on that's more important (like every Tyrion chapter).

With Arya, the chapters before they're attacked and [blackout]Yoren[/blackout] dies aren't really that important. They're approached by Lannister guards/City Watch (forget which) twice before that attack, that can be condensed into one or just have it all at that big attack.

Also, With Bran, a lot of his early chapters just deal with the conflicts among lords in the North. The only important things before the Reeds show up is what's happening with House Hornwood and his wolf dreams.

A lot of those chapters were mostly made up of the character's inner thoughts and you can't put that into TV. Look how they completely ignored the [blackout]"Promise me, Ned"[/blackout] stuff. They weren't bad chapters, but there are a lot of chapters that were much more important, not to mention they'll likely add scenes and possibly include some from early in ASOS as they did in the first season.

So has there been any news yet on a DVD release for the first season? I'm assuming they're going to wait until the second season premiere is close, so any time between December and March would be a good guess, right?

Damn, so what have we got? A year, year and a half till season 2 bows? That blows. This is why I usually wait until shows are completely over before I get into them. Just hate to wait.

Unless they add stuff that didn't happen in the book. No, dead is dead. Except for one person, but that person isn't even dead yet.
