Yeah he was quite good. He spent a few years actually trying to get the role. He apparently wasn't asked back to play the role. Perhaps his fees increased? or they though they could just use ian white who they were using anyways for the whitewalker.

Ratings are in for Game of THrones:

Spring tends to sap the ratings strength of just about every show, but some -- including HBO's "Game of Thrones" -- are holding up better than most.

After kicking off its second season with a series-best 3.8 million viewers, the lavish fantasy epic proceeded to deliver about the same number of viewers with each of its three subsequent episodes, according to Nielsen estimates.

This in itself is impressive, as daylight-saving time, school breaks and other spring distractions conspire to drag down the ratings for even TV's biggest hits at this time of year. Also, most shows tend to see ratings declines following their premieres, no matter what time of year.

But for the week of April 9-15, "Game of Thrones" also achieved another impressive feat as it stood as cable's top-rated scripted primetime program for the week in both total viewers and adults 18-49 (see chart, left), topping the likes of FX's "Justified" and AMC's "Mad Men." This despite the fact that HBO is available in roughly 30 million homes, compared with basic-cable biggies like USA and TNT that are available in 100 million or more homes.

HBO isn't necessarily in the ratings game -- the pay cabler cares more about supplying its subscribers with satisfying programming than how a program draws on any single night -- but it can use the initial telecast of any show to garner interest. And "Throne's" average audience for the Sunday 9 p.m. airings this spring (3.8 million) is up about 50% from a year ago (2.3 million).

Looking only at HBO homes, "Thrones" is averaging an 8.3 rating, meaning roughly one in 12 subscriber households is watching the premiere telecast. This is about what TV's most-watched Sunday series, "60 Minutes," was averaging this month.

Of course, nearly everybody who watches the CBS newsmag does so on Sunday night, while HBO gives fans of "Thrones" numerous chances to watch the show every week. If you count the dozen replays on HBO (including two immediately following the initial Sunday telecast) and the network's on-demand service, the show's gross audience surpasses 11 million, compared with 9.3 million for its rookie season, HBO says.

Amazing. The show deserves its success. Hopefully the viewership continues to climb throughout the series. There's a LOT in store, we've barely scratched the surface.

From his blog:

I had a great time working on GoT season 01 and the response from viewers to my character and portrayal seemed very positive. I was looking forward to being able to reprise the role for season 02, but it seems like HBO decided to go in a different direction for the 2nd season and I will not be playing Ser Gregor this time around which is a pity.

Of course, if I were asked to appear in season 03 I would be very excited to do so.

Tbh I think if it actually came down between a slightly beefed up role on Got or the hobbit he might actually have chosen got. I'm pretty sure he'll be in make-up and unrecognizable in the hobbit. The guy who played the main urak-hai in LOTR didn''t really explode on the scene.

Still, it's a chance to work with Peter Jackson on a film adaptation of Tolkien's books. I wouldn't pass on it either. Game of Thrones has 3 more seasons at worst with up 6 or 7 more if they cover the entire series.

I don't see it as that big of a deal since [blackout]Gregor doesn't play a significant part until the end of A Storm of Swords. And there is another role Conan Stevens could play later on...[/blackout]

Yeah, no way in hell I would pass up a chance to work with Peter Jackson! He usually uses the same crew for all of his films, and he doesn't forget a good actor. This could open doors for Conan Stevens.

That's true but it wasn't the Hobbit that prevented him from appearing on thrones. So it does seem weird they didn't ask for him back and went with whyte instead, especially if gregor has a bigger role in the series future.

Obviously since Gregor Clegane is one of the most challenging roles to play in the entire series :whatever:

You know, it's funny, but this is one of the first times I've haven't wanted to read a book series because I enjoy the tv show so much. I don't want to know what happens in advance because I like the surprise.

Since I FINALLY managed to find all the hardcover editions on amazon for 20 a piece I went ahead and bought all of them. Dont know when ill get around to actually reading them though.

:wow: Incredible episode. And that ending. My god!!

Stannis and Renly's scene was horribly underwhelming compared to the book. Guess they needed to give more time to Joffrey abusing 2 naked women

Since they cut out my favorite line of Stannis', here it is:

Renly: "I've even taken Margaery as my wife. You'll be happy to know she came to me a maid [virgin]"
Stannis: "In your bed she's like to die that way."

Other than that, a great episode. Harrenhal was not what I pictured, much more ruined and disturbing with the prisoners. Seeing Tywin march in was pretty awesome. The beginning with Grey Wind was great, too.

Crazy ending...Anyways, what I thought was going to happen this episode will probably happen next week.

I like Tywin. I suppose he is a bad guy but he is a respectable one. Unlike that little s**t Geoffrey

So who is ready for our weekly fight?

Here is my problem with tonight's episode:

It was good...but it drags so much, wastes so much time. For example: Tyrion was awesome as always. But what was his plot? Him consolidating more power in in King's Landing. Gaining more influence, spies, allies and power. It's basically a repeat of last week's episode. Tyrion uses his cunning to gain more power, root out a spy, etc. Did we really need to see it yet again? Instead of showing two episodes where Tyrion does almost the exact same thing, show one episode where he does the same thing in fewer scenes, less words, etc.

Same with the ending. From what I understand [blackout]the shadow creature that the witch gave birth to, assassinates Renly[/blackout] so show it! instead of spending the final 15 minutes with conversation building up to it and ending the episode on revealing a plot device, show the plot device used and move the plot forward. Go from point A to point B rather than one hour of running place between the two.

It will happen...It doesnt happen there, from the previews it happens next week

Then just go to the scene. Show it tonight instead of stretching out an entire episode building up to it.
