Game of Thrones - HBO part 2 - Part 4

Seriously, it's like the writers for the show had a bet to see how many times she could say it this season. "Fire and Blood," and "I AM THE MOTHER OF DRAGONS!" Are starting to get a tad annoying. And it doesn't help that she just doesn't seem all that smart. When things go wrong her fallback strategy is threatening people. Except she literally has nothing to threaten with. And it just makes her look like a foolish little girl.

Solution: Just add it to the Drinking Game. Helps take the edge off. And give you alcohol poisoning. :woot:

Haha, thats one thing I always thought was a bit funny. Some of my friends have read the books and told me the ages some of the characters were supposed to be and I was pretty surprised. I'm sorry, but the actress playing Danny doesn't even look close to a 16 year old. Of course, that's hollywood though. You have 20 to 30 year old actors playing teens. But now that I am in my early twenties, I just look at that and roll my eyes. I remember how the girls in my grade looked, and not too many of them looked like fully developed 25 year old women.

They pretty much aged everyone one up a couple of years. The best is Jon and Robb. 17 on the show. Both actors clearly in their mid 20s. :woot:

The actress is in her 20s, so I don't think so. I am also not sure if they have confirmed her age on screen. Actually, I don't think they have. That is just what has been said by D&D.

In Canada, the law says it's child porn if the performer "is or is represented as being under 18 years old." I'm pretty sure the wording of our law is present in many other western democracies as well. So much for freedom of speech, right? :oldrazz:

Not sure. All I know is that Keira Knightley got naked twice before turning 18 and no one got in trouble. Once on Masterpiece theater as funny as that sounds. Maybe it is just a Canadian thing.

would you rather have a 14 year old robb stark or a 24 year old robb stark kicking ass? good thing they added years to the cast.

Oh, no I definitely prefer the actors older in general. When I heard Robb was supposed to be 14 I bawked at it. I mean, I know there have been young warriors in real life in the past, but most of the time, the idea of a young teen fighting against men in battle is pretty ridiculous.

I love the actors, so I won't complain. However it is strange how they write the characters as much younger then they appear. Jon's conversations with Ygritte are a prime example.

This is true. However, I don't think he meant this much when it comes to Robb and Jon. A lot of the story for Jon and Robb have been centered on them being teenage boys. Look at how Jon has trouble with father/authority figures, his temper and girls.

Yeah, but then, the "I'm a good manly man but awkward around girls" thing has been done before on films, even with actors who look much older then Robb on the show.

You know, I always liked that they aged them up a bit for TV. But I like imagining a world where a 14 year old is a man and by 20 could be a lord. Where a 14 year old is expected to lead his father's bannermen.

Aye, I mean who wants to see a 13 year old daenyrus with Drogo um you know.

That may work in the books but 14 and 15 years olds fighting Wars would look sily on screen . These type of changes are needed

Given the maturity (or lack thereof) of modern teens/20 something's it does indeed seem ridiculous. However back in the feudal period of which GoT is loosely based on, you were forced to "man up" much earlier in life given that your life expectancy was about 30 on average in most cases.

blackwater the best episode of the season got the lowest ratings of the season.3.38 i guess the holiday hurt it.

oh no worries, that will change on repeat viewership, HBO GO, additional ratings diagnostics.

Memorial Day weekend was tough, I think there was the Thunder vs Spurs game on at the same time

First Jon. I am seriously not sure if you are serious.[BLACKOUT] One, Jon didn't kill the Halfhand, Ghost did. Even so, Jon was under orders of his superior to kill him and to hide amongst the Wildings. His shagging of Ygritte. Orders. He did his duty. Don't hate that that duty included booty. [/BLACKOUT] If anything he is proving to be more like Ned everyday.

Jon [blackout]killed Halfhand with the tip of his sword. Halfhand even comments after his throat is cut, that the sword is "sharp." He also shags Ygritte. This may all be under orders, but it's by a pragmatist like Halfhand who makes Jon compromise his honor (by killing a brother and sleeping with a woman after vowing not to) for the greater good. In short, he is making Jon play the game wisely and not like a Stark. Ned would have refused to break any such oaths, even under orders, and would be dead again.[/blackout]

Arya. [BLACKOUT]She has clearly not forgotten who she is (see Needle). And last I checked it was her father that started her on the Braavos path.[/BLACKOUT]

Ned had her trained in waterdancing. I doubt [blackout]he wanted her to become an assassin who murders random people because people who worship a religion he never taught her to told her too. I agree Arya has not truly forgotten who she is, but Arya is far more morally ambiguous than her father ever was. Jaqen even says, "A girl is without honor" and she doens't care. Honor got her father killed, it won't her.[/blackout]

Bran's [BLACKOUT]warg abilities and the children of the forest are apart of the Stark heritage[/BLACKOUT]. They are descendents of the First Men after all. Don't forget the weirwoods and the Old Gods.

Would Ned really [blackout]want his son and potential heir living a wildling?[/blackout]

I would give you Sansa, she has always been more like her mother, if I wasn't 99% sure where she was going with this.

Sansa is far removed from her mother. She is learning to play the game far better than her parents ever have. The way she is learning it and the way she is learning to think would make Ned cringe. But if Sansa survives and helps hte Starks, it's because she isn't playing the game as the honorable fool. That way leads to only one place and that's on a spike next to Ned.

Not true. The throne was forfeit when the King decided to stop protecting the realm.

Renly wanted his men to kill Stannis. Is it not kinslaying if you send your men out on to the battlefield to slay your brother?

Wrong. Renly gave orders to his vanguard to make sure they take Stannis alive.

Actually I am pretty sure you are wrong. I am not positive, but I am pretty certain Sunglass was burned around the same time as Blackwater, and Stannis wasn't there.

The others were killing people and if they weren't, were thrown into cells.

Wrong again.

Ratings for HBO’s Game of Thrones spectacular battle episode went … down?

Yes, the show dipped to 3.4 million viewers for the show’s premiere airing Sunday night (recap here), down 13 percent from last week. Thing is, the decline isn’t entirely surprising due to the Memorial Day weekend, which often sees about a 20 percent reduction in overall TV viewership (and, just saying, last year the show’s seventh episode aired the same holiday weekend, delivering only 2.4 million viewers). Fan and critic reaction to the hour was extremely positive, with many claiming on comment boards they’ve watched the episode multiple times since its debut.

Also, HBO viewers know they’d have to wait a month to actually miss an episode. Thrones currently averages 10.3 million viewers per episode once all viewing is tallied, including repeats, OnDemand and HBO Go. That makes Thrones the third most-watched series of all time in HBO’s history. Expect premiere numbers to climb for Sunday’s second season finale.
We're in for the long haul :)

I'm guessing last weeks episode might have hurt it as well. It was not as strong as previous episodes.

Yeah. It's kinda funny, tbh. Dany S2 in a nutshell:
