Game of Thrones - HBO part 2 - Part 5

i just watched episode 3 and am considering not watching anymore of this season.

The ending, for me, really made me feel physically sick and the unnecessary violence (especially against a child) really shouldn't be on screen imo. I know the show is known for its violence and nudity and i haven't had a problem with it thus far, but though this was pushing it over the line and the scene really disturbed me, the way the boy was killed so nonchalantly and graphically was horrific.

The problem i have is that i appreciate that it was part of the plot and was necessary, but the depiction of it could've been handled more tastefully and more sensitively. It could have been done off screen for example.

I know this sounds whiney but it's really affected me in a way that an on-screen death never has before.

End rant.

hahahahaha!!

I started watching the show last week, i found the first half of season 1 a little slow but i loved what came after and i still liked that first part. Right now this is one of my favourite shows on tv, can't wait for it to come back.

My only complaint is when it looks like a tv show like when the dragons burn the wizard and when the shadow kills one of the kings, i expected the former to be more sinister and ambiguous than a man made of vapor walking and stabing the king so violently

Game Of Thrones is tame compared to other TV shows I could mention.

Quit while you're behind.

The kid isn't dead, and it doesn't show anything. If I remember correctly, the camera is looking up at the kid, and when he eclipses the camera the episode ends. It doesn't show him hitting the ground or bursting like a bloody water balloon with bones jutting out. Also, this is a midieval society set in a fantasy world. Bad **** happens. Come on. If that bothered you then HBO isn't the show for you. Might wanna stick to NBC.

His fall was nothing compared to the stuff I saw on tv this past sunday. Lorie getting cut open and shot in the head by her son, T-Dawg being eaten alive, and Billie blown up. Bran's injury is practically rainbows and butterflies.

Are you talking about Bran? I was talking about when Arya and Gendry are captured and they kill that child who's been shot in the leg.

Anyway, to the other people who replied: no need to be so rude about it. Just expressing my opinion.

Does it get worse than this in terms of violence against children? I don't really care about other violence to be honest.

You realize they arent really being hurt or dying right? And yes it does.

Yeah, if you don't like that scene, I don't know how long you'll make it. There's not a whole lot more violence shown against children in S2 (a lot is implied) but the series as a whole doesn't pull any punches.

Yes I realise that thanks. It's probably just me being pathetic but I didn't think the show had been too brutal up until that point.

Also, just to clarify, I wasn't annoyed with it being involved in the plot, I was just annoyed with the way it was depicted. Never mind haha.

Thanks for an answer that wasn't condescending saying 'Don't let the door hit you on the way out'.

All I wanted was an honest answer. If I then decide that a show isn't for me, then that's fine. There's no need for other posters to be so rude about it.

In the season premiere of season 2 at least one baby is murdered. And no this isnt a joke. It is one of Robert's bastard children. This really isnt the show for you.

I've seen this and I think it was done off screen (if I remember correctly).

As I said, this was episode 3 (of season 2) where Arya and Gendry are captured and Lorry (I think) is killed with Arya's needle.

Only problem is, I've loved the show up until now. I just felt this piece of violence was done for the sake of it, not for any entertaining purposes.

Well, in terms of how the violence was used, I think they had it be so brutal to highlight just how brutal the Hound's men are. And that is completely within character, so I don't think it was done without purpose.

Yeah I see what you mean. It definitely made me hate them!

Then the show did it's job! They were definitely trying to make the viewer feel like it was a way over-the-line move, disturbing even compared to alot of the graphic stuff going on. I'd say keep on with the show, the story is still very good. I don't think there's any more that bad, just remember they're doing it for dramatic purposes and it's all fake, and that if you hate the character for doing it, that's perfectly fine, that was the point.

Bran falls in episode one. He said episode three. I wonder what kid he's talking about. The butcher's boy?

EDIT: Missed his response. I'm sure there's worse in store, and mass child and baby killing episodes before that.

It ain't for you, man.

This show and Hell On Wheels is the only two drama shows I like to watch. Its just too bad these series have only 10 episode per season.

I am ready for it. Seems like it's been too long already. :)

Here's a little something I came up with while passing the time waiting for season three. I figured some people here might get a kick out of it.

Anybody read the books, too? I just started the fifth one. Awesome stuff. I can't wait til the new season, though. Some epic stuff is on the horizon.

Cool shield, i didn't read the books, does the 3rd one have that much happening to warrant 2 seasons?

Very cool shield, and appropriate for season 3.

Oh yeah. It's the best of series. Starts kind of slow, but once you get through the first third, you can't put it down.

I suspect they'll be following the books less strictly as far as what happens when. They've already done a bit of that, as parts of what's shown in season 2 for some characters took place in the third book. For example,
in the second book, the Catelyn/Brienne/Jaime storyline ends with the cliffhanger of Catelyn holding a sword to Jaime's throught.
Certain filming news and casting announcements lead me to believe events that take place in the second half of the book will be in season 3, so I'm thinking season 4 will be a blend of books 3 and 4.

The other thing to think about is that many parts of the book are meant to be taking place at the same time. This is even more apparent in the 4th and 5th books. The 4th centers around one group of characters, and the 5th on another during the same timespan (at least for most of the 5th. The last third or so seems to merge everyone together again, but I haven't read that far yet.) Now, since there's no way in hell they'll do a whole season without certain main characters (who's names I won't mention, so as to keep any viewers guessing when it comes to who's survived to book 5), they'll have to deviate even further at that point.
