Ya who the hell gets the regular ones?

Blu-Ray Best Buy collectors set or bust.

The crown image is awesome. :cmad:

I get what's cheapest. Which isn't those.

Five bucks was not really a big deal to me. Not that I just throw money around, but I really do love the series/the BB covers so to me it's worth it. Especially if some don't like the covers, like what Season 3's may be.

Agreed. I preferred the black and gold and the design of the crown to the simple house sigils. Plus I wanted season 2 to match my standard bluray season 1. And there is no guarantee these exclusives will remain consistent or even continue at all. I don't want half a collection being special packaging and half standard packaging riddled with inconsistency . Looks crappy imo. Ill take the standard packaging and leave it at that.

The dragons look decent, but they're rather puny.

I assume they grow to be around T. rex size (plus wings, obviously)?

Much much bigger than a Trex. Not as large as Balerion was (he had a mouth that could swallow a mammoth whole and a wingspan of hundreds of feet) but still smuch bigger than a Trex. Dragons in ASOIAF, like most lizards, continue to grow as long as they live and dragons live for hundreds of years and are notoriously hard to kill so the sky and food supply is the limit of their size. The story doesn't cover enough time for the dragons to reach Balerion's size but they still get very large and very vicious.

They haven't shown it yet, but dragon's hide will burn and melt things that pierce it and their blood smokes and burns. These things won't be cute for much longer.

What size are the dragons currently (as of ADWD)? They are quite lovely creatures. Balerion sounds amazing.

I think they're about the size of a horse right now.

In A Dance With Dragons, Drogon's wingspan is 20 feet tip to tip. He is big enough to ride and kill large groups and terrorize. Of all of Dany's dragons he is the biggest and hardest to control.

‘Game of Thrones’ Creator George R. R. Martin To Make Cameo In Season 3
By DOMINIC PATTEN

Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin will be making an onscreen appearance in the upcoming season of the HBO flagship show, executive producer David Benioff revealed tonight. “You will see him”, he told Deadline. Season 3 of the hit epic fantasy drama premieres on March 31. Benioff was appearing with the author of the sprawling book series and co-executive producer of the TV series Tuesday at the “Evening With Game of Thrones” put on by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. As fans of the show know, Martin, who recently inked a two-year overall deal with the pay cable network to develop new projects, actually had a cameo in the Game of Thrones pilot. “90% of the pilot was re-shot and George’s cameo ended up on the cutting room floor”, admitted Weiss to the sold out crowd. In a spoiler free event, Martin did let one plot twist or twists slip out. “There’ll be a few people on the throne before it’s over”, he said when asked who would end up victorious as King on the series. Benioff and fellow exec producer D.B. Weiss joked that “George has told us.” With HBO execs in the audience, Benioff also said that no order for a Season 4 of Game of Thrones had been made by the network yet. The crowd groaned in obvious displeasure.

Also appearing on the panel tonight were the Emmy winning show’s cast members Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), and Peter Dinklage, who has garnered an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role on the series as the conniving and lascivious Tyrion Lannister. Moderated by It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia creator/star Rob McElhenney, the panel started off with a short video recap of Seasons 1 and 2 followed by a brief and unrevealing preview of Season 3. It is known that the upcoming season is loosely based on the portion of Martin’s A Storm of Swords novel, the third in his A Song of Ice and Fire series. The producers have said that Season 4 will delve deeper into the book. As you’d expect, besides Martin’s Kingship quip, the producers and cast were tight lipped about the upcoming season, spending most of the panel joking about each other as actors and the harsh locations they film on in Europe. Martin did tell the crowd about first meeting Benioff and Weiss at the Palm restaurant several years ago for long lunch that eventually turned into a deal between the trio. “They took the ball and ran with it and next thing I know we’re in business with HBO”, he said. Martin, who is now working on Book 6 The Winds of Winter, also told the crowd that he was sometimes worried he wasn’t writing new novels in the series quick enough for the TV show. “They’re moving faster than I am”, he said of producers Weiss and Benioff.

Haha you still have to read ADWD, dont you?

90% of the pilot was reshot? Whoa that is a lot!

Season 4 hasn't been greenlit? HBO!:argh:

They will, but that was a great roundtable. Some funny stories in there.

But at the end you can tell George really realizes he has to push the pedal to the metal with the last books. Which is a good thing he has pressure now with it.

And as for the Sigil covers, I bet even if Best Buy goes under, another store will get that as exclusives. I have both of them with sigil covers and they just look appropriate.

I'm conflicted on that. I have seen some potentially great works ruined by rushing the creator.

I have to read alot of this series, but I just need to know that it's available to me. :o

And yeah, there's alot about the pilot that changed. They even had a different Catelyn at first.

I thought the panel discussion was handled well. There was a lot of interesting information about the technical aspects of production (such as Harrington's account of shooting in Iceland, or the writers' story of finding a replacement director for "Blackwater,") in addition to some amusing stories (Dinklage's story of his most unique piece of fanmail.)

Agreed. In GRRM case I think he takes too long, but its his world and baby and rushing him could cause problems.

Do you happen to know who played the original Catelyn? Its a pipedream but I want to see the original pilot.

Jennifer Ehle, according to wikipedia. Apparently, Dany was also played by a different actress: Tamzin Merchant.

Ehle as Catelyn would've been glorious.
