Game of Thrones - HBO part 2 - Part 9

This, right here. I'm really interested to see where they take Jamie's character next. I HATED his guts in season 1 and thought of him as merely a sister-****ing, child-throwing a-hole. They've definitely given him more layers in the meanwhile and actually made him sympathetic to a certain degree. I loved the moment when (and the way in which) he saved Brienne from getting raped by Locke's men.

That they have. He went from an arrogant ******* who I couldn't wait to see die to a more sympathetic character who has a real history behind him that at least partially explains him.

Joffrey on the other hand, could have every injury we've seen on every other character done to him and I still wouldn't feel sorry for the little ****.

I think I can tolerate Joffrey as long as Tywin keeps giving him the business. That little exchange where he sent that little brat to bed was just amazing!

It's pretty impressive how that was pulled off. Even more than Theon, because I probably would have felt bad for any character thrown into that torture. Although, the scene with Theon seems to regret his betrayal of Robb when he talks about how Ned was his real father was kinda heartbreaking.

With Jaime, it was the sacrifice that I think that made me feel bad for him. He put someone else's well being ahead of his, when really he didn't even have to. He had nothing to gain, but he did it and sure as hell paid the price for it. And then, by the end, going back for Brienne when he didn't have to...he was pretty much at the finish line and chose to go back for her. There was a certain kind of redemption in seeing how he's changed, that I can't wait to see how he readjusts to not being a POW.

I doubt the game was that big at that time, had the original king accpeted the throne instead of going to the wall the kingdom wouldn't probably be upside down, i doubt the court was activelly planing to kill their king the way everybody is now with their respective king.

The funny thing about Joffrey is that with all his big talk about things like giving Stannis a red smile in battle in so on, if he were to sustain one injury in a battle or otherwise, he would probably start shrieking and crying for Cersei. If he was on Ramsay's torture rack, the tears would never stop coming.

Man, that would be almost worth the Red Wedding if they let Ramsey torture Joffrey. But then I'd have incompatible feelings of love and hate towards the Boltons...

Maybe if they let Ramsey torture Walder Frey...

I'm reminded of how Arya owned him in the first season. And that was BEFORE she had any training of any kind. And she had him crying, begging for mercy.

Joffrey kinda reminds me of Ramsay, too. They both have to classify as "weirdos", right? I mean, wanting to serve dinner on the night of your wedding with the head of your fallen enemy on a platter for everyone to see is all kinds of weird.

You might be right. Some of the backstory I've read, it seems like Robert's victory opened a can of worms.

As a side note, I'd really be in for a prequel series too. All the talk of 'The Mad King' sounds like it'd be a crazy thing to see unfold.

Stannis sliced the top-half of a man's head off at the Blackwater. Joffrey ran crying to his mother.

What I loved most about that scene is that even the most despicable people in that small council scene were like "**** Joffrey" as soon as he brought that up. Cersei looked like she wanted to slap him again as soon as he insisted it wasn't a joke.

As a side note, I'd really be in for a prequel series too. All the talk of 'The Mad King' sounds like it'd be a crazy thing to see unfold.

I remember the idea of a prequel season to fill in time while waiting for G.R. to write more books being thrown around. I'm all for that idea but i'm afraid they may rush the plot there, that usually happens with prequels, a good example on tv was the Spartacus prequel.

I'd like to see a prequel covering the Rebellion, and if they really want to go back, one for Aegon I uniting the Seven Kingdoms too. I think that'd be something fun to see.

There's been treachery long before Robert came along. At the time when Maester Aemon went to the Wall there was dozens of pretenders threatening the Targaryen dynasty and by stepping aside and allowing his younger brother to take over he removed himself as a threat, and because of that Westeros got 40 years of peace from king Aegon V.

What was better was the rage-eyes he gave Joffrey for his remark about hiding under Casterly Rock when the Rebellion was happening, followed by Joffrey's "Oh ****, did I just say that?" and everyone else's "Are you a ****ing idiot, kid?" looks.

It's probably in Charles Dance's performance more than anything, but I get the sense that TV Tywin does have a certain private appreciation for Tyrion. At least, more so than he does Joffrey.

I feel that Tywin's extreme dislike (emphasis on extreme) of Tyrion is a bit forced in the show. In the books, Tywin was a lot less... likable.

Each time he goes on a particular anti-Tyrion tirade it feels out of step with the rest of his characterization.
