Yeah, but i had the impression Snoke was possibly more powerful and probably older than the Emperor. I doubt he just appeared out of thin air after Return of the Jedi, him and Sheev might have had some kind of relationship.

The Emperor didn't fear a Luke on the verge of Knighthood... But a Master Luke, he might have.
