See originally Luke's sister was someone else. Originally they were going to do the sequel trilogy very shortly after Episode VI. Originally the sister's name was Nelith Skywalker (it was scribbled down on the first draft of Leigh Brackett's script for ESB I think....or maybe it was one of Kasdan's drafts can't remember). The sequel trilogy was going to follow her, and then later in IX her and Luke were going to over throw the Emperor. So during 78 and 79 that was the plan. Even at one point in 78 they were going to do up to Episode XII.

But plans changed, George decided he wanted to stop after Jedi, so they just made it Leia. In many ways that worked, and then in many other ways lol it made it a little awkward. It worked in the end for the most part. But it was far from planned out. The original plan was to follow Nelith throughout a trilogy.

Fascinating, Solidus. Thanks for the information!---I was unaware of that.

interesting. thanks.

didn't know all that detail.

I was just vaguely aware that Leia wasn't originally planned as Luke's sister. which is why I was joking about the awkward "romance."

since the sequel trilogy was supposed to follow a female protagonist, I hope we finally get the chance with Daisy ( as the Solo daughter ) as the main lead.

Found this on blu-ray.com. If y'all needed anymore reason to not like Kevin Smith.

Kevin Smith visited the set and then put this on instagram:
Visited JJ and his EP VII set. I signed the NDA so all I can share are this old Bantha-Tracks subscriber's tears and snotty nose of joy. The Force is WITH this movie. Holy Sith...

Lucky bastard.

It brought Smith to tears? Pfft...

He cries about everything. He cried tears of joy multiple times during TDKR cause he was emotionally overwhelmed by what he was seeing. Hell he even teared up during the podcast review of that film.

He must have needed a mop and bucket after he saw Affleck's new Bat-Suit then.

Originally Anakin Skywalker was not Darth Vader. A lot of consolidation happened.

Frankly, I would have vastly preferred it if Anakin and Darth Vader had been two different, separate people. It's so obvious that this was the case in ANH when Ben is talking to Luke about his father's death. They're just lucky that Guiness played the scene in such a way that they could make it seem as if Kenobi was being cagey.

And Leia being Luke's sister always seemed like just a cheap, silly cop-out so they could easily resolve the question over who Leia would end up with. Otherwise there was no reason she had to be related to him at all.

I agree about Leia, but i vastly disagree about Darth Vader, it was one of the best twists out there, i don't even think we'll ever see another cinematic event like that.

In least i doubt to see anything like that in my lifetime, with most blockbusters now being adaptations, though some surprises do come from tv series.

Hell no. I'm quite happy with the way it was done. I think the father vs son angle is a lot more powerful and interesting than Luke vs his father's killer. For me personally, that's what's compelling about ROTJ, especially after i saw the PT. I feel for Vader a lot more now; i didnt really give a *** about him before lol.

We need to corner Kevin Smith and force him to talk :p

Considering the greatest film of all time is based around Vader's search for his son.... uh no. I can't imagine ESB without it. It is what drives Vader, makes every scene count. And that is without considering the brilliance of Luke and Vader's story in RotJ.

yeah....the whole thing would have been less memorable if Anakin and Vader were 2 different people.
