Ghostbusters 3 - Part 3

I always liked Winston because as the blue-collar of the group he was much more the Everyman than any of the other three - fast-talking-smoothie Peter, uber-nerd Egon or overgrown-little-kid Ray. That scene in the Mayor's office, and his lines, just click so well not just for the humor of them but also at the narrative standpoint of trying to convince the Mayor and his staffers that this isn't just some wild-eyed mass hallucination - it takes the one who's sort of outside the triad of oddball to just plain get to the point after Venkman and Peck go at it again.
I think he does get slighted because he doesn't show up until halfway through the picture, though.

Wouldn't be so bad if it were a "side-boot", have them in another city and just be a franchise. No need to completely erase the first movies

I still think that short of NOT doing another one that this would probably be the best course of action.

Bill Murray has also expressed concerns in the past about how the Winston character was portrayed, and apparently was part of the many reasons he had for not wanting to do any more GB stuff. Still, I think Winston got his due in the cartoon, and in the role playing game he was the character you'd pick if you didn't want to get almost killed all the time.

You're right, Hudson really brought some charisma to the character that helped build personality and weight even without being in half the movie. I couldn't imagine Ghostbusters without him.

It's been mentioned but that scene where Winston and Ray talk about the apocalypse in the car is a good scene. His character added a layer of depth.

All this talk is making me dislike the reboot. I want to be able to enjoy , but for now I'm very skeptical.

Upon re-watching GB2 it's interesting to note the impact the cartoon series had on it. The tone seemed a lot more kid-friendly than part 1, it was definitely missing that bite the first one had.

I never got people saying GB2 is more kid-friendly than the first. It always seemed much darker and more sinister to me, with moments like the heads on the stakes in the subway, Oscar being abducted by Ghost Janosz, the slime in the bathtub, Vigo's scenes, etc. and Vigo himself comes off as a much more sinister villain than Gozer to me.

Usually when people say GB2 is more kid-friendly the only thing they ever really bring up is the Ghostbusters smoke less often, which they didn't do a whole lot of in the original to begin with.

Ghostbusters 2 on tv: "Wiiiiiiinstoooon...*heads on stakes*

10 y.o. Goshdarn Batman: "...:wow::csad:"

I wanted to turn off the TV when that happened.

when I was little, there were only two things that frightened me: the Crypt Keeper from HBO's Tales From The Crypt and the heads on the stakes scene in GB2.

Having read what Ernie wrote it seems that he's bothered more by the fact that he was ostensibly playing one of the title characters of a major blockbuster and yet due to the studio cutting down his part and minimising him in the promotion he didn't gain any real career progress. The very fact that Hudson, for example, had to audition to play Winston on THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS and lost out is humiliating.

Safe to say I don't know the validity to these claims and even then writers of the article have not 100% confirmed the legitimacy of what they read, but it's an interesting read. The following link claims to have read the most recent draft of GB3 before reboot fever hit. I really like it and what it describes happening to the original team at the end. Heck, I'm ok with the idea of the reboot, but this makes me sad as to what could have been. And the role of Venkman in the story is, in my opinion, pretty brilliant considering how he feels about another Ghostbusters.

Take a look: http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3321478/weve-read-the-ghostbusters-3-script/

The Ghostbusters Inc. described seems to be what Feig was wanting to avoid...a world where ghosts are commonplace.

Read the summary and the first few pages of the script. Seemed like it had some potential, could've been a good flick. Especially if guys like Rogen and Franco were the "movie star" *****er Ghostbusters. Such a shame they couldn't pull one last rodeo together before Ramis passed. RIP...

There was actually real promise with that script. I like the idea of Venkman disowning his former crewmates, it may have even been an idea Murray could have gotten on board with.

read it. its a perfect story for the third movie. the chances that this would be realesed in theaters was ZERO.

That script is bogus...

False. No clue what this is. We wrote three completely different scripts over 4-5 years. This doesn't resemble any of them.

Bogus or not, I would have been 100% satisfied with that movie instead of what we're getting now.

Have you seen that Twitter account?
Doesn't look very reliable.

that actually sounded awesome and i think it could have worked out well

sadly, it will now never come into play :csad:

I'm with the crowd that says bogus or not that concept is great. Not a huge fan of the cross the streams thing again, but the guys going out in a blaze of glory is a fitting end to their legacy. I also like Winston ending up on top and getting his due.

Here's an interview from Dan Aykroyd from June 2009 (two months after this leaked script was written) where he describes GB3 and confirms that at the beginning of the film, the Ghostbusters no longer exist. They've long been out of business and are no longer an entity. This completely contradicts the entire premise of the leaked script, where the Ghostbusters have gone public as a franchise.

Dan did confirm Oscar as a character, though.

So, Rebel Wilson huh?

I mean, what else can you say at this point, besides "Abandon hope, all ye who is a Ghostbusters fan."

Rebel Wilson = Not that great. I don't understand the big deal with her.

She had a meeting, that means they are actually considering making this and I've lost even the most minute of interest I had in this project.

Rebel Wilson nooooooo. I do actually like, her but shes not a GB
