Gotham Gotham Season 2 ratings thread

Given the state of FOX I can see no way it doesn't return to that network for the fourth season. You also have to account for the fact that bumping it to another network would be very bad PR for the show, meaning bad business for WB. They would probably agree to cut the license fee to avoid that.

As I have stated earlier I believe this is why the wait. FOX will want the best deal possible.
If they lower the license fee it becomes less attractive for WB to keep the show running.

If they don't think it'll last more than one extra season on Fox anyway it'd be just as easy to burn off the final season on a platform they already own. They'd still get the full benefit of the 88 episode count for syndication.

If the current trend continues it's going to be getting 0.7s by the end of next season anyway.

If the air it on an own network they get no license fee at all.

Don't get me wrong, I'd actually welcome a move to CW provided the network could sustain it.

Yes, and that's sort of the point. What major network that they own would they switch it to that would make up for the license fee? Would the CW cut it? I don't know.

If they were thinking of lowering the fee anyway, I don't think it's going to be too much of a difference. CW, TNT, Hulu (WB owns 10%), TBS, doesn't really matter all that much.

The fourth season is just a means to an end. They need that episode count. A license fee and ad revenue are both a drop in the bucket compared to the difference between three seasons and four.

I'd rather no DC show die (though I'm not too fond of the CW shows). :whatever:

It looks like 24:Legacy has temporarily halted its drop in the ratings after posting two 1.0 in a row, but the overall viewing number sank significantly, so maybe it's still too soon to tell.

How to put it... I am generally loathe of wishing for shows' cancellation, but I do want Legacy to fail, both because it's in direct competition with Gotham's timeslot and because I pretty much hate the 24 shows' political skew.

Eh. We'll see how things develop. At least I have Black Sails to keep me entertained until Gotham returns.

Kathemy there is a person on TVBN talking about TVLine saying Gotham is a toss up show and that it might not be renewed because of how expensive Gotham is. That they might replace it with a show about X-Men next season. This does not make me feel good.

There's already an X-Men show running on Fox. Legion.

If Fox cancels it, there's a chance it could continue with Netflix.

But I'm in neither stance of "Gotham will 100% get renewed" or "It'll get cancelled, start panicking" moods. I'll wait and see.

Even if Fox cancels it, it's getting a fourth season.

Right now both sides are just trying to get the best deal possible. Gotham pairs well with Lucifer and even if the X-Men show is a huge success, Fox still needs solid dramas.

Don't panic. I say this as someone who can't stand this show: it's definitely coming back for a fourth season. Someway, somehow.

"A person"?

Why would an X-Men show be less expensive? It would seem that would be even more VFX heavy.

It's common to provide links to articles... Or we're just talking about some random user here?
I am talking about a random user. I have gone to TVLine and looked to see what this person was talking about. Have not seen anything. Maybe I am not looking in the right place.

Fox 24:Legacy has already gone fractional. Fox has so many fractional shows. Common Fox just renew Gotham already. Getting tried or waiting. This waiting feels like forever.

It's going to happen. WB and Fox are just both angling for the best deal they can get.

24 posting a 0.8? Ouch.

Yeah, mild schadenfreude here.

Also there was this comment from a random user on TVbytheN that I can't help stealing:

"Only Gotham was able to withstand the competition from both The Voice and DWTS. Also Gotham would face The Big Bang Theory in the Fall and still pulled in low 1's. Fox undervalued the show."

I think this is essentially correct and it may also hold for Lucifer. Essentially Gotham is a niche show, appealing to a select audience - "people interested in a Batman prequel with good acting and production values taking huge liberties with the source material" - and while that audience might not be as big as FOX or the WB wants, these fans will tune in, no matter what reality television show or comedy it airs against. I also think that's why Gotham normally wasn't hurt by Supergirl. The tonal difference between the two shows is astronomical.

B99 just posted 0.7 in its returning episode. That's a rather sizable drop.

Hopefully Gotham and Lucifer will have more buzz to it.
