You know what I just realized? I don't recall Chris Pratt saying a single thing about being in this film. In a way, it sorta feels like he isn't actually in it.

dark horse! going to surprise everyone with how awesome he is!

I thought, by definition, a dark horse was supposed to be a non-lead role with unexpected popularity (see also: Phil Coulson). A popular lead isn't a dark horse. It's expected.

Of course, the way casting rumors have been going lately, everyone in this movie is a lead... :o

As Dark Raven said, classic Rocket was never part of the original GOTG; but yeah, there's a huge difference between the Rocket that existed before 2008 GOTG and Rocket as DnA portrayed him. Classic Rocket was little more than a whimsical character that existed out on the fringes of Marvel fandom. He was basically part of a quaint little fable about anthropomorphic critters who were basically pets/guardians of an intergalactic lunatic asylum. The whole miniseries was written and drawn in the style of a nonsensical Beatles cartoon like "Yellow Submarine" (and even featured quite a few references to Beatles tunes).

But when DnA got through with him, he was an ass-kicking rodent (marsupial? whatevs) with oversized big honkin' guns.

I meant the character, not the team. but thanks for the info.

oh.. maybe I used 'dark horse' wrong haha.. Underdog?

I'm just saying I think Pratt is going to shine in this film as the leading man, and a lot of people are going to be impressed and pleased.

Im not worried about Chris Pratt staying tight lipped. Zoe has only opened up because she was doing Star Trek press and Bautista is a twitter addict it seems

That's even worse. That refers to someone in a contest or fight who is expected to lose.

right.. and I'm guessing a lot of people don't think he's going to do a great job since he hasn't been in many movies as a series type role. I'm saying he's going to prove the doubters wrong or even if no one is really doubting him I think he's going to do one hell of a job and surprise people at the least.

dude, give it up lmao, "underdog" or "darkhorse" doesn't work for what you are trying to say XD

A dark horse is someone little-known that emerges to prominence and success despite expectations, so it does work (outside of the fan community who already think he'll be great). It doesn't have to be someone in the background. For example, lots of people have been describing GOTG itself as a potential dark horse movie of 2014 on other sites, despite the frequent media attention.

Yeah dark horse works fine. Stop splitting hairs. Its annoying.

On topic: hmm I got nothing...

Yes on topic.

Holy crap we are getting a gotg movie!!!

I was telling you about underdog, and that would still be wrong in this context.

And strictly speaking, it's GOTG as a film that is a dark horse in comparison to other marvel characters or films in general. When most of the film's cast are unknowns and then there are just a few bigger names thrown in later for good measure, then you'd hardly call CP a dark horse. It's not like he's the one unknown amidst a cast of famous actors. And being classified as a dark horse depends partly on results, of which there are none at this stage yet. If the film itself flops you'd hardly call it a dark horse.

I wasn't going to bother to say anything, but since you felt the need to drag my name into it...
